Why do we care so much about the commercial success?!

According to you :rip: Apparently you forgot what Gaga has suffered because of Interscope forcing her to try to maintain the same kind of success (for reference, watch her Austin interview). Gaga tried to build an entire era around exactly the opposite of what you're saying.

I don't think she needs to do anything but carry out an artistic vision. There is no reason why an artistic vision should always require high budget tours or high budget anything. And to be completely fair, I think it's obvious by now that her creativity truly shines when she does not have a huge budget to her disposal. But that's just my personal opinion.

I was actually referring to her future strategy as suggestion. I know producers have been altering her vocals in the studio to make them sound more 'radio-friendly' and 'robotic', which she told Tony Bennett.

Well, I definitely hope that now she is free to pursue success as well as genuine artistic expression now if that's what she wants.

I still don't think that the majority of people here who care about commercial success for her actually think like you do though :rip: But I like what you say.

Born To Slay

If this album flops, we can forget about big promo performances and a big budget tour.

Gaga hasn't exactly had a high budget music video since Telephone since all of her music videos since then have been directed by photographers, herself and the haus. That's not a bad thing though since Born This Way is my favorite music video and Applause is cute.

Marry the Night and G.U.Y. are high budget, aren't they? Too bad BTW and Applause are my two least favorite from her last 3 albums:giveup:

Head Empty

I think the "bigger tours" and "more expensive mv's" is a cheap argument. Plenty of less succesful artists have amazing tours and absolutely gorgeouss and innovative music video's. So did Gaga when she was just starting out. Wasn't her entire "lifestyle" that she introduced with The Fame about exuding luxury and drama while only having a few bucks to spend? She lived that and reached incredible hights while doing it. And back than she didn't have nearly as much resources as she does nowadays.

And in my opinion, no shade intended, Gaga's visuals have only become "cheaper"  after TF/TFM, even though she had made a ton of money on The Monster Ball tour. At this point in her career it's more a matter of vision and spending money on the right things, because there will always be a certain level of budget available to her due to her previous successes.

Marry the night always looked cheap to me. The prelude is better than the actual music video. The car explosions are cool but other than that it felt homemade. GUY has potential with the amazing set but it was just boring and the shots/cinematography in general felt so messy and out of place.

The masterpiece that Just Dance MV is:giveup: Still can't get over this perfection

I mean you may notice that Poker Face had a good video because her 1st single was successful

Poker Face is without a doubt her 2nd best music video in my opinion. Ray K should direct another video for her. The set, shots, angles, outfits, editing, choreography, overall vibe is just pure perfection. I remember Ray K describing the video as "Entering the Gaga world for the first time".

I really don't think our fanbase is that powerful (and the most of us didn't buy it for sure. TIHTY didn't even get into Hot 100. Yes, CtC appealed to old people, but old people are not the only ones who bought it

Our fanbase is insanely powerful :emma: TIHTY didn't chart because we knew the song like 1 year before it got released. I personally didn't buy it.And I don't know many people that did xD Bieber,Beyonce etc. also had flop singles. It doesn't mean anything (And TIHTY wasn't even a real single. No radio, not real promo,a song that we knew for a long time,it wasn't even in an album)

Sorry but in terms of commercial success, this is her make it or break it era. I know some of us don't like it, but we're really going to have to start to care about the charts. If we care about it, we care about Gaga's career. In order to be a legend you need memorable hits, which Gaga doesn't really have now. She really has to bring her A game, she can't afford another messy era like BTW or ARTPOP. It's the truth whether you like it or not.

If people were really concerned with Gaga's commercial success, they would let their money do the talking.

Yess, tell them!

Always so ironic whenever someone complain about charting but have no shame telling they always did torrents than purchase her albums.

Exactly, you can tell who are the talkers and the straight up walkers by who puts their money where their mouth is.
