If you want to hate the album because you hated the era, then go for your life. You're the one missing out on a masterpiece.

It was. Just about everything went wrong, which wasn't even that big of a deal to me itself, but I didn't like the way Gaga handled it. She could've come clean from the beginning, admitting  that 80% of what she promised was not gonna happen and she just had to improvise and make it work somehow 'cause **** just happens.

Instead she pretended to be absolutely in control of her wreck, making her look like a bad artist, which I'm sure is one of the key reasons that era didn't resonate with a lot of people outside of this fanbase. If you were just some outsider and you observed the era, holy hell, what a shithole. And people are surprised she wasn't as successful.

What shocked me even more, however, was what happened àfter the big December breakdown. G.U.Y. was supposed to be her return to quality and I think it's her worst video yet. The performance at Austin wasn't my thing either because it felt forced, just like most of her interviews in 2014/15. So in a way, the mess continued when it really should've been over, making me think that maybe ARTPOP's fundamental badness can't be explained away as the conclusion of everything collapsing behind the scenes. That was a hard possibility to take in and LG5 will be very curious to observe for that reason.

(Not gonna talk about the album 'cause who cares at this point.)

looking back, album-wise i wouldn't say it was bad... i think of it as my least favorite album primarily because i wasn't a fan of a number of songs in there, unlike her last three records wherein i loved EVERY track.

the overall promo for the era, however, was undoubtedly messy AF.....

This really bothers me too,  rather than have a flagrant disregard for these promises she could have been upfront.  I found it to be quite disrespectful considering how long her fans had waited,  promote and supported her.   A simple message on LM would have sufficed 'no vids for each song anymore guys'.   Instead we were dragged along for the ride of broken promises and misinformation.

It was definitely a messy era and I'm also convinced this is why the GP didn't care for her.   The entire message behind ARTPOP was never really conveyed properly and even Gagz would pick and choose when to apply 'music not the bling'.

Are you serious now? The only listenable thing on that junk is Thousand Miles. And ARTPOP has songs like Gypsy, ARTPOP, Dope, MANiCURE and Jewels N Drugs. Its far from a pure EDM sound unlike The Queen Of Farts you enjoy to listen.

Personally, I think that ARTPOP has some really great songs (that I like much more than the Swinefest ones); So, if you're talking about the album itself, for me it's a big no, cuz I love ARTPOP.

But if you refer to the whole era, well then it was such a great mess, and I'm not talking only about the singles chooses, but also about all the hype that Gaga herself created around this album... I mean she continuously posted lyrics of songs that didn't even make the final cut, and I remember to have had a personal meltdown when reading the final tracklist on her twitter... like "where is temple where is tea where is Brooklyn Nights "

And if you think to Act 2... yes it was a huge mess :wtfga:

Oh well I know it leaked, but you know... it's not like having it on an album as a part of a theme or of an era, that is what I was trying to say :gaycat:

But I love ARTPOP, it's however full of gems :flutter:

The GP didn't care for her because it was a messy era? Don't think so. The GP can't really say. All i know of the GP is one bar where the dude was off when I asked him to play a gaga song but he was quite happy too play generally junk music and didn't trust anyone too work for him as bar staff. His street sign went in my fire place due to an unrelated issue and thankfully he appears too have closed down now and left. Someone else told me that they were saying gaga was crazy. This dude later abandoned me in a near by town and went too drink in the very bar where I got viciously attacked last year (coz there were girls there) by the door man over nothing. I had to get a woman too go in there and get him out so they could drive me home and then listen too her saying it was my loss. He said they were saying I was crazy so he must have talked to them about it. The dude was crazy himself (diagnosed schizophrenia) but it was a shocker after all I told him about how I was scared too go out on my own and how they had almost killled me over absolutely nothing. These people it turns out own several bars and provide cover for drug dealing whilst employing an unhinged and extremely dangerous drugged street kid from south america too pick on decent people such as myself. Fortunately I got out of there just about alive. I really mustn't go too bars but consider it a serious rape what happened to me since I was almost killed and was seriously psychologically abused such that I don't feel safe going out and this is a hang out for  girls and my crime was genuinely too try and make friends with some oh and i ordered a white russian. Still it is not as if it was the first time i have been abused by females I could tell quite a few tragic stories (so understated). Atleast if I was a girl someone would actually give a **** although I suppose that is a bit unfair though it is true that abuse of males is generally ignored and diminished. I saw one time quite an interesting example of this dynamic it was in a pub and this girl was coming up the stairs and this dude waited for her and said sweet things too her and when I came up the stairs a different dude looked at me angrily and when I hurried called me a good boy (not that this was meant to be an example of a serious transgression just something more lighthearted).
