Because people will stop being homophobes if they're fined $135k. :neyde:

Hopefully it'll teach them (and others) to keep their views out of the workplace :omg:

This is a huge amount of money, but at the same time I find it difficult to feel bad for them honestly.

'Should have baked that damn cake...

Stupid. If I were that lesbian couple I would feel so bad now.

I sure wouldn't. :nick: I'd happily take that idiot's money and get myself a nice BMW, some designer clothes, and then travel the world. :nick:

135k aren't enough for that then.

Anyway I guess some people are rather like those bakers and some other are different and don't need the money that could destroy those family :)

I'm sick of people, like you, expecting people to kiss YOUR feet and succumb to YOUR beliefs. But, God forbid we have a different point of view than you. Its ridiculous and borderline pathetic in my opinion. And, to me this is truly fighting the wrong kind of battle. Boo hoo, poor girls can't get a wedding cake. Yet, there at LGBT people dying for being who they are

Wtf. :wtf: I cannot believe what I'm reading!! I don't think I've ever seen someone so ignorant on this forum. :wtf:

They aren't asking for anyone to "kiss their feet". They are normal paying customers asking the business to provide them the service of baking a cake. Why should they be refused service when anyone else who walks through their doors would not be turned away?! Yes, they could easily go to another bakery and get their cake there, but it's not about the cake! It's about the fact that the discrimination of LBGT people is WRONG. If people just ignored these situations and let themselves be discriminated, we will never make any progress towards full equality.

They need to be punished though. And 135k isn't a lot when you consider the bakery owners got 300k in a crowdfunded account due to other bigoted idiots supporting them. I think all 300k should be awarded to the couple. That will show the owners of the bakery and all those that supported them! :crossed:

I still stand by what I said. I am SICK of gays thinking everyone owes us something.

I keep hearing that tossed around, but in the five years since I came out, I have never been denied anything because I identify as gay. Maybe you all should stop hitching one insignificant "identifier" to yourselves. Life might be a tad bit better, to be honest.

Well good for you, but there are plenty of gay people who HAVE been denied things. Until this past June half the gay people in the country were denied the basic right of marriage! :wtf:

If you think being granted the right to marry was a step towards equality, I suggest you quickly find a copy of Undoing Gender by acclaimed scholar Judith Butler and read her critiques of marriage in her chapter on gender regulations.
