Kanye West 1,676
I see nothing but negativity surrounding Gaga's first two albums; The Fame and The Fame Monster. I have been reading a lot of threads on here about how fans are fine with Born This Way and ARTPOP with both being highly praised, while being extremely negative towards her first two albums. It seems that people overlook the problems with her last two albums while forgetting about all the good points of her first two. I really don't understand the negativity. Is it because her first two albums were her most successful and her last two haven't held up commercially? What's your thoughts on this matter? Nino 12
I agree. Little monsters all hate tf/tfm and its wrong. Nobody ever even mentions the Grammys awarded to her or the diamond certs from the eras despite how hard she worked to earn them
mariomania1234 11,368
I've seen the opposite here lately. And what is this about BTW not holding up commercially? It was the 2nd best selling album of 2011.

As badly managed as ARTPOP, except Gaga didn't have the momentum she had during BTW to carry her through the ARTPOP era. BTW started the whole "flop" name calling towards her. Gaga addressed this in an ARTPOP promo video which said "Gaga is a flop since Born This Way" to which she replied "stop the drama. start the music." BTW was a blockbuster era and album with really minor management issues compared to ARTPOP. Even The Fame and The Fame Monster has issues but nobody mentions them. All of the singles charted in the top 10 with the exception of Marry The Night. She was everywhere, and I think one of the main faults of BTW if anything, was how badly it overexposed her. Klou 2,414
I see plenty of praise for TFM, so not sure what you're looking at. The problem with The Fame is that the singles were by far the best songs on the album. It's her album with the most fillers.
arthurhmangum 4,408
The Fame is not The Fame Monster. Stressed, depressed, but well dressed.

Interscope were truly struggling to pick singles. Gaga was fighting to make songs she wanted singles, with no luck for her. The best songs on the album were ignored while the songs with the most relatable lyrics were made singles, which Gaga didn't want. The Edge of Glory was randomly switched from promo single to an actual single with a rushed music video, etc. It was a mess. Born This Way is an amazing album which was badly managed. Though it was perfection compared to ARTPOP. KANYEWEST.COM
manyatyau 262
Well, poker face is my all time fav. I still like to sing mum mum mum ma when I'm in shower. Fans like BTW/AP usually becuz of gaga more than the music.

The only real one was the Judas/TEOG switch. I'm of the opinion that all the right songs were chosen as singles. The only single worthy track left was "Hair" IMO. I do think they could have been released in a different order though for maximum impact.
Sudarshana 581
I think it was kind of cool during the BTW era to say something like "What, you like TF/M more than BTW? You're so GP, not a true LM." But then after ARTPOP came out we started missing Gaga's previous success and appreciated the TF/M era again. Radio Ga Ga 5,671
I think TFM is not hated that much on here, The fame is the one that gets targeted the most because the GP thinks the fame is the best gaga album and most fans don't agree. A lot of us were pissed when this happened!! I'll never forget the meltdowns. Even though we were pissed, didn't it become one of her longest played songs on the radio (or I'm probably thinking about You & I)? Lol. Regardless we hated the label released it the way they did. We thought it was released because when the album dropped it was like one of the songs that was still in iTunes top 10, so Interscope wanted to keep that momentum by sending it to radio and making it an official single. Like you said it was indeed a mess. OT: Any one that underrates the first two eras, clearly wasn't around and that's evident. I love BTW and ARTPOP but the first 2 were just ICONIC. We'll have many other era's to come that could even surpass TF/M. Though so far the first 2 are still in the lead (a small lead, but they are still winning). Fans like BTW/AP usually becuz of gaga more than the music. Not sure if you meant this as a good or bad thing but I can agree, honestly. ARTPOP is my favorite album, BTW is the second and it's because of so many reasons besides just the music (which I love too). For Born This Way, what makes it my second favorite is her activism, speeches about pride and acceptance, dedicating Hair to Jamey, talking about equality, and then the music itself. With ARTPOP, it was always talking about expression and freedom. The way she spoke about strength and the style and oddities of the ARTPOP era, that's what makes it my favorite. The music is great too, especially since I can relate to most of the songs. With The Fame (Monster) there's just not much to relate to. Well, for me anyway. She hadn't blossomed into "Mother Monster" yet, really, and it's that Mother Monster personality that I fell in love with. It just wasn't there with The Fame and was just budding with The Fame Monster. All the music is great, though, it's just not what makes her my favorite living artist.
