Basically she's the queen of KPOP. And she originally in a group called 2NE1 which consists of 4 queens! Do check them out! They have talent ofcourse!

Wonder Girls did pretty well with Nobody

SNSD had The Boys (eng ver) and performed on Letterman

CL got recognition and will hopefully get more

Maybe HyunA because of PSY

Kyary Kyary Pamyu also got recognition, but it was just for PONPONPON

There aren't many Asian men either. Bruno is Pacific Islander, but he doesn't completely look like it.

I was just asking my Asian friend this the other day and he thinks it's really due to the culture. In the Phillippines ,at least, they're not to complain or seek to be the center of attention.

Until this thread I had literally never thought about it before, but now I can't think of even one example. That's crazy to me! There are a lot of Asian Americans that make it in other entertainment fields in the US, but why not pop? Surely there is someone that has the right combo of talent, presence, and/or connections to get there! Just skimming through the vids posted these girls all have a possible "it" factor that could make them highly marketable to the labels at the very least. What a strange phenomenon.

Just repeat to yourself, "It's just a show. I should really just relax."

Rebel Heart

I do find it very weird how there aren't any successful Asian-(Insert Western Country name here) pop stars that are very successful. There are some great Asian pop artists out there (BoA, Jolin Tsai, Namie Amuro, Koda Kumi, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, CL) and honestly I think they could give a lot of western pop stars a run for their money. I mean if you look at how successful western pop stars are around the world I find it strange how pop stars from Asia aren't able to cross over the same into the west when they are huge in their own country as well as the rest of Asia.

In my personal opinion, Asian acts just can't break through since KPOP music/industry is considerably different compared to American music/industry.

Some Asian acts have the potential to break through, but America will tear them apart compared to what Korea loves about them. If they try to twerk (which some Asian performers do in Korea, and Korea doesn't care) they'll be torn apart. Their dancing can't be sloppy, and they can't lip-sync at all (which some famous Asian acts lip-sync half the song or the whole thing).

A big reason is that they have to pronounce English properly or they'll never hear the end of the racism and jokes making fun of them.

Take EXID for example, I read up somewhere that they had a chance of breaking through and tried to, but since they couldn't pronounce English properly they were made fun of constantly.

Some Asian acts just can't take the chance to break through, or their image has a chance of being destroyed.

Not to mention, the KPOP industry is way different compared to America's.

(sorry if some of this makes no sense, i'm too lazy to read it over)
