It would make so much more sense if the VMAs have like sort of a collaboration with YouTube. 

The VMAs were made to honor the art of music videos. And YouTube has been the main platform for music videos the last I don't know 15-20 years. 

So to have like a free livestream event on YouTube for every person is long overdue. And the VMAs would greatly profit in terms of relevance.

I used to look for broken livestream links, but now I don't anymore and rather just sleep, because it's such a drag.

I was at MSG last night and before the show started, an announcer said we were getting a special treat and they filmed it. She did each song twice and they reset between them. She said “put your hands up MTV” during Abra, so it was definitely for the vmas.
