The 3rd best selling album by a female in 2013 is hardly a flop. I'm laughing because it's mostly Katy and Madonna fan Gaga haters that attack her. FYI Do What U Want peaked higher than Brondey, TIHWD, and Unconditionally with less radio AirPlay and no music video. Dark Horse and Roar did well because they were played every hour on like every radio station. And Madonna fans GUY peaked higher than the highest peaking single from Rebel Heart Bitch I'm Madonna. I love both of them but give that info to the haters :reductive: P.S. I'm not trying to flamebait but this is serious, seeing as how they are the two fan bases that constantly hate on Gaga's music videos. Its addressing numbers as a whole and I'm not generalizing the fan base as a whole. Why compare Birthday & TIHWD (the last 2 single of an era) to the second single of an era (ARTPOP) It's common knowledge that Katy's emotion pop aren't going to reach number 1 because people enjoy her bops (but we'll never know about the future). DWUW had more promo (let's be honest), she performed it live various times and Katy never even bother performing or promoting Birthday & TIHWD (she did go on one late night show and one live feed performance from her PWT for Birthday and that's it). Lastly, Dark Horse was already a thing before the video came out... There were demand for it to be released as a single. swakby 4,100
I've always loved ARTPOP threads. So many little managers were born
Glamourpuss 29,062
I think ARTPOP really wasn't that good. I hated it from the start. Some tracks have grown on me and I did attend 3 Artraves but I choose to think of ARTPOP as a blip. She was capable of so much more than that album. It was a huge disappointment to me. I think the problem was it appealed to little kids and the people that loved it were all the young Little Monsters.
djBuffoon 12,115
Definitely. I think it gave some fans license to say truly abominable, thoughtless things about it: "dreadful", "trash", etc. Even the harshest critics didn't hate the album the way some here seem to. Frankly, I question the taste of anyone who fails to see even a little bit of merit in the record.
MGC 226
Not completely. I mean, I think that all the bashing on ARTPOP started from the very moment in which gaga pulled out statements like: "do not listen to my album with sh*tty speakers" or "only scholars can judge my work". The GP didn't like it, critics too. And they didn't forgive her when ARTPOP was out and it was nothing more than a really good pop/edm album. Obviously IMHO
Iluvartpop 411
I totally agree. ARTPOP is always my favorite album and when I first bought it, I loved its music more than her previous work. The songs were actually very creative and great! The reputation however, made my excitement for the work die down. But even so, I still love ARTPOP and is still my most favorite. I can't imagine a world without her releasing it for me to buy and listen! Best proof? My display name! haha!

I was excited when Burqa was leaked, then excited during the itune fest or wtvr, but once the album dropped, and I listened to it, yea there were stand outs, but as a whole it felt below something gaga would do (and obviously it was with her recent statments). I, like you, hope it was just a blip and LG5 will bring back the powerhouse I've come to know and love
