If either one of these people lack one of these talents, that is fine, because I least they are talented in one field. I am talking about the very limited or untalented artists that don't have much of anything. Define talent though? I think it's pretty f*cking talented to to be able to write a catchy pop song that makes people happy. Well, everyone but you it seems.
Higher 2,406
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Songs_written_by_Rihanna I also find it funny that Sia is the only songwriting to say she didn't show up this era when half of the known song writers said she's been on top of things and has credit in almost all of the registered on BMI since the ANTi era started. And also Sia said Rihanna's management said she'd be there. Maybe Rih doesn't like Sia or just didn't know she'd be there. They're multiple possibilities in this story. Finally feeling free for the night, I got no worries. Finally got a claim on my life, baby, c'est la vie. ☄️
Illuminati 15,782
Even Katy is superior to Rihanna in my opinion, she's passionate and involved in what she does even if she doesn't write most of her lyrics and doesn't have a Gaga voice. Not much of a singer but a great performer, could almost compare her to Britney even if some of you may disagree. She seems to love what she does and she has the energy. Some people like making pop music because they like to make people happy, God forbid! The thing is that there is pop music that is actually good, and pop music is not the only type of music that can make people happy.

Well arguably, all pop music is good because it's popular... that's pretty much it's goal Yes I'm aware other genres can make people happy, I didn't say any different. Iwontell 7,312
But Rihanna can sing, she has charisma, connects with people easily, has a great eye for fashion...she has star quality. She does have talents and deserves this status she conquered, imo... ATTENTION: (bad) jokes and sarcasm are still a thing, so don't take everything I say literally. Thank you. Economy 47,038
These artists with "good looks" and generic eady to digest content have their place in the industry too they sell for a reason, people like them. Why try to stop it??? They havent stopped artists like Adele and Gaga from emerging. So lets not worry. The industry is diverse. If theres someone you dont appreciate, you are not forced to look up their videos or buy their content! And if they come on the radio flip the station i myself like Katy Perry and Selena Gomes (two people you mentioned". Live with it!!!

Catchyness is not necessarily always a good thing. How can't you see that this is entirely subjective? What you're saying is no valid reason that pop singers should "not be hired" just because you don't like them I never understood the pretension behind people having such an issue with what others are listening to. If you turn on the radio and a Rihanna song is on that you don't like - turn it off! The majority of actors in films and TV shows don't write and direct what they're doing, either. People like Rihanna and Katy Perry may not be to everyone's tastes but they obviously deliver their music with a certain conviction that causes them to draw in mass audiences and have huge success.
