Fans of the late singer Ahmet Kaya say Adele’s song Million Years Ago, from new album 25, bears striking similarities to a track by the Kurdish performer. Fans of a famous Turkish singer have suggested Million Years Ago by Adele was “stolen” by the British musician.

The ballad is on Adele’s latest album, 25, and its lyrics chronicle the perils of fame and isolation. This week, followers of the late Ahmet Kaya have claimed that her album track bares similarities to his 1985 song Acilara Tutunmak (Clinging to Pain).

I knew I've heard the melody before somewhere, but not from this guy.

But this is some striking similarity as well. :duck:

It's a timeless melody that has been used in thousands of songs in different variations.

Adele's voice and lyrics made it so special.

It's probably my favorite Adele song ever.

It sounds so generic. Do you know other songs that sound similar chord progression wise etc ?

This is a very common melody/set of chords?

For those of you saying you can't put your finger on what english song it sounds like, it has almost identical chords to "I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor, Phantom of the Opera theme, etc. just in a different key, and some similar chords to "Layla" by Derick and the Dominoes, just to name a few.

I just wish people understood that similar chords/chord progression in no way means the song was stolen or ripped off :toofunny:

It's like claiming you copied a painting because you used the same color paint.

You're stinky
