Whole thing : http://www.rollingstone.com/music/features/sias-reject-opus-songwriter-on-reclaiming-adele-rihannas-unwanted-hits-20151203?page=2

Best parts:

On RIHANNA: “They’ll entice me into a session by saying, ‘Rihanna will definitely be there’ or ‘Kanye will definitely be there,’ but it’s hilarious because I turn up and, almost always, they never come. So I went into the studio to write for Rihanna with Kanye and neither of them showed up and stayed for less than an hour. They had two tracks. They told me what they had wanted. There were notes from Kanye, and I can’t even remember what they were.”

On KATY PERRY: “[Like Adele, Katy Perry is] also quite dominant, and she’s extremely a--lytical. I actually quit within the first hour of our first session. I was like, ‘Can we both agree this doesn’t work? Like our whole songwriting dynamic?’ And she was like, ‘I love it. It’s like a puzzle to me. It’s like a crossword.’ And I was like, ‘But this is boring for me. The a--lysis is totally boring for me. It feels like the enemy of creativity.’ It was so cool to be able to have that conversation on why we wrote in such entirely different ways. I’m glad I didn’t give up on it because I actually did get a song out of it, and we also really had a laugh because we were able to be authentic.”

On BEYONCE: “The process is like a writing camp, essentially. She flies us all in and puts us all up. We all live in a house together — like five producers and five topline writers. She visits each room and will contribute and let us know what she’s feeling and what she’s not feeling. Lyrically, melodically, anything. She’s very Frankenstein when she comes to songs. She’ll say, ‘I like the verse from that. I like the pre-chorus from that. Can you try mixing it with that?’”

I find this very revealing and interesing to read how the songwriting process goes for some of the major names in the music industry!

Erm.. yuck @ Rihanna and Kanye.

Katy & Bey tho >> Very happy to read that. That's what I expected & I'm glad to see it confirmed.

So basically she's saying:

Rihanna and Kanye skip a lot

Katy pretty much has the ideas before they start

Beyoncé has a whole team of writers at a time

What the **** :wtf:

It's all so ****ing inauthentic.

Well, at least Katy tries to understand and appreciates the differences in Sia's process.

Sia is a queen. Keep doing it, baby.

Sia Daily

I love Sia because she doesn't bull shi*

She's basically like (and pretty much has said this in various interviews) "I sing, i write songs, that's about it, not really bothered about having a body of work and having some deep meaningful crap that no one cares about".

Don't get me wrong, it's great when artists like Gaga really believe that their albums or whatever are somewhat extensions of their soul, but it's also just as refreshing to have an artist who is just like "hey whatever".

She's such a rare find, I still feel she's underrated in some way

Well as a fan of Rihanna and Beyonce, may I say that the only one that didn't leave a sour taste in my mouth is actually Perry? Gosh, these "revelations"...talking about massproduction of music... Disgusting. Getting help, borrowing ideas that's one thing, but building a campus to work for you and have it supervised? Someone making an appointment for you to show up and collect your song! LIKE WTF?! :toofunny:

Katy talked about this too, that she tries to a--lyze and think about each line she writes. It seems like Sia prefers to go with the flow and so their approaches clash there.

Also LOL at Rih not even showing up :deadbanana: That's exactly what you would expect from someone like her.

I can't stand the fakery of it all. It's really depressing more than anything. I'm so glad Gaga exist. She really is a gem and the complete package.

I mean it really is a huge ****ing stretch to call some these singers "Artists". It's bulls--t. It's like the majority of pop hits are created by a core group of writers and producers and all these singers are just vessels, puppets, whatever you want to call them.

We kinda already know that Rihanna is lazy as ****...

I'm even more glad i'm a Gaga stan. No one is at her level right now.
