why do people want to own an item which it's purpose is to shoot and kill so badly. In my part of the world we banned guns and have had no mass shootings and minimal gun violence

Where do you live?

And well, people want to protect themselves. I don't want a gun myself, but I think you're a bit naive about it. It's not thàt strange that people would want a gun in their house.

Ok, I can understand your point of view better in that case. On the other hand, I live in Belgium, and we've had some major mass shootings in the last couple of years. And if it wasn't that, it were knife attacks. Or rape incidents. I don't really make a special case for gun use in violence, it all belongs to the same dimension to me - that probably explains my point of view better too :rip:

And of course here everyone gets their guns illegally. In fact Belgium is at the center of a major illegal gun trade current in Europe. Which is probably why I'm not a believer in the "stricter gun control equals less violence" story.

The first step that needs to be taken care of is stricter screening for mental health and criminal histories.

If people want to commit mass murder, they will find a way eventually. The best way to combat these things is to make the process harder for those that have proven to be unfit.

I think it's impossible to look at Guns strictly because it's laws are dependent on many factors.

Like your government, police system, border control etc. and the corruption within those sectors. Luckily I live in a country with no borders so we don't have to get caught in the crossfire of illegal trade etc. The main problem is that there is a supply and demand of guns.

I wouldn't have a clue what's going on in those upper ranks where guns are being made, passed on, sold etc.

i say we should just nuke each other and end the human race...Mother earth will recover, she did it with the dinosaurs. now its our turn. :emma:

Jk, but nothing will happen with the gun law in america. we can ban them, outlaw them. But people will find ways to access them and start massacres! :noparty:

:derpga:

The difference between the two measures is even more dramatic on a national level. In 2015 alone, Mass Shooting Tracker reported 355 mass shootings. Government data shows 32.

So which is correct? It depends how a mass shooting is defined.

Historically, academics and — until recently — a majority of the media have counted incidents in which four or more people, excluding the shooter, are killed using a firearm. On the other hand, Mass Shooting Tracker, a website started by Reddit users after a mentally ill man unloaded a Bushmaster XM15-E2S rifle on a Connecticut elementary school in 2012, counts any incident in which four or more people are shot, regardless of how badly they are injured.

I disapprove of what you say, but will defend to the death your right to say it.
