Is Adele the anti-Gaga?

I really think not.

Gaga is talented, Adele is talented.

Both can sing and have magnetic personalities.

Adele just really have her own lane but her presence is very bright indeed.

I will not say that, Adele is more to anti disposable pop stars than anything tbh.

I don't think Gaga is the exact antithesis of Adele. Britney is a better choice for that. Famous by her looks, perfect body and face, big productions, scandals, gimmicks and prefabricated music. She is exactly everything Adele is not. Gaga is not perfect and she was never seen as that. She was the weird one and she is still the weirdo in the industry.

I think Gaga stands in the middle. She has the eccentric looks and gimmicks but at the same time she is weird and crazy.

I think now days it's very hard to stay relevant with the same gimmicks. Look at Madonna, no one cares about her new stuff because we have seen her doing the same thing for almost 30 years and with the Internet we don't need to watch her doing it like people did in the past. Now you have more than MTV and VH1.

Adele is probably in her best years. I doubt she can do something as big as this era ever again. Part of her success comes from her last album. The hype for the next album and Hello did everything.

She earned her success and I love her and her new album but sadly people are going to move on like they do with everything.

Well, they both have their similarities and differences.

For example, they are both talented and great live singers. Both can sing jazz very well. They both have blackouts (:laughga:) I think they  are quite -how to say it- polite. I mean, they never get in fights while high (alá Justin Bieber) and they are usually nice with everyone.

They have a lot of differences too. (But I'm not gonna explain them because they are already posted on this thread)

Yes. Gaga focuses on every aspect of appealing to one's senses while preparing her performance art, while Adele's only focus is on the song and her voice in delivering. It's a huge difference.

The future's uncertain and the end is always near.

I'm neither joking nor trolling.

The anti-gaga would be someone untalented and since Adele is talented she couldn't be her.

Yes, she is in most of the fields.

People who say she isn't just don't understand the OP. It's not what you think about it or is it even objectively factual.

It's about what GP perceives them two to be, and I guarantee to you, most of the people caught and asked about it "on the street" would tell you instantly that "yes, I think Adele and Gaga are like the complete oposites".

Although I think Gaga made huge work this year to show her talent/voice to the public, it'll still take her a proper album campaign and a few HIT and quality songs from it to convince people she has as much talent as Adele has.

The anti-Gaga would be someone who doesn't write, play instruments, have a good voice and be in music for the money and fame. Rita Ora is more like the anti-Gaga.

But anyway, it's such a horrible way of looking at things. I was talking about this recently - how calling certain artists the anti _____ is so mean-spirited. It suggests there can only be one good way of making music and it's not nice to the fans of the other artist. Calling artists the "anti Gaga" was likely what partly brought upon Gaga's downfall - when that support and credibility isn't there and you're nothing but a joke, no one's going to want to buy your music.

I think it's completely rooted in her fanbase solidifying and Gaga responding to it. In late 2010 a lot of people started to get the idea that to be a fan of her, you had to be either a bullied girl or a bullied gay guy who loved eccentric fashion. Her antics were also starting to become predictable: you didn't know exactly what she was gonna do, but you knew it was gonna be over the top and I think that's when a lot of people hung up the phone, especially when Gaga was starting to become absolutely obsessed with presenting her fanbase as a separate social category and literally made statements like: "Gay people understand me because we love the same things." etc.

BTW was just a grotesque explosion of everything she had already done, the singles weren't current enough to attract a mass audience, everything she did was just in a separate category instead of her being ahead of the pack. Other pop artists started to experiment with an EDM sound, notably Rihanna, and Gaga just became the gay pop act, I mean she didn't even really try to be anything else. If she had completely switched things around à la Madonna (sorry, I had to and there's a good reason for bringing her up - she never pandered to her fanbase and kept surprising global audiences with total reinventions, not just in outfits, but in character, vibe, music, personal life, projects,...) and cared more about attracting more than wannabe artistic misfits to her crowd, I'm sure she would've been able to be an actual competing force instead of being a talented but predictable singer who had made her niche and now could just sit in it - the absolute opposite of what she promised to do in 2008.

But who knows. The future is wide open.

Very well said!

No. An anti-gaga would be someone who can't sing, act, write music, dance, who always tries to appeal to the mass public and is afraid to take risks (follow trends) with very weak artistry.

Now who fits in this category lol

Not at all. Never understood this statement.

- both talented

- both write their own music

- both run their own careers, no men running them like a factory (a recent Adele interview was 100% Gaga in an Adele costume)

- both can actually sing

- both very humble and nice

- both seem hard-working & genuine

The only difference is their outfits and personas. Adele is laid back classy and down to earth relatable, Lady Gaga is eccentric and constantly changing the status quo of herself and the industry. This "Anti-Gaga" mess was created to diminish Gaga and her career by saying she's somehow not what people should aspire to be and respect. I personally feel Gaga will last longer because of her versatility like Madonna/Cher while Adele will follow the likes of Norah Jones and Celine Dion. She might get replaced by an ever better singer who is even more relatable but in this moment the world still loves everything that Adele brings to the table.

Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Jennifer Lopez etc are the Anti-Adeles. I like them but they are a bunch of talentless quacks. Charlatans. :awkney:

i caught your fever, i'll be feeling it forever
