Luiz 4,253 Posted November 27, 2015 Share Posted November 27, 2015 (CNN)Police announced Friday that they had made an arrest in the death of Tyshawn Lee, a 9-year-old whose alleged gang-related slaying spurred outrage in Chicago. Chicago police detectives made "an arrest in the unspeakable murder," department spokesman Anthony Guglielmi tweeted early Friday. It wasn't immediately clear whether the person arrested is the one who authorities believe opened fire on young Tyshawn or was involved in some other way. The boy was shot in the face and back on November 2 as he headed to a park down the street from his grandmother's house to play basketball, the Rev. Michael Pfleger said at the funeral. He was "lured" into an alley in what Chicago police Superintendent Gerry McCarthy called "probably the most abhorrent, cowardly, unfathomable crime that I've witnessed in 35 years of policing." "We're pretty sure that this is not an accident," McCarthy said, claiming that the boy was targeted because of his "family relationship with a member of a gang." "He was not a bystander." Chicago was called the murder capital of the United States after it registered 503 homicides in 2012, more than any other city. What is government doing about these disgusting gangs? I know that in other cities the police can't really keep up with the gangs because they're just so large and hard to handle. A lot of gang members want to leave, but only death can make you so there's that. Furthermore there's war between various gangs and that makes it nearly impossible to intervene with a handful of police men and women.
