Harry 26,836
Since the announcement of Rihanna's Anti Tour, there has been speculation that she might be headlining Glastonbury 2016. The main weekend of next year's festival takes place in June from Friday 24th - Sunday 26th. She's playing in London on the Friday but (conveniently?) has the Saturday and Sunday free in her tour itinerary. Several news outlets have picked up on this today and are fuelling the speculation. http://www.itv.com/news/west/update/2015-11-24/could-rihanna-be-headlining-glastonbury/ http://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/rihanna-headlining-glastonbury-singers-tour-6890007 http://www.timeout.com/london/blog/rihanna-announces-a-wembley-stadium-gig-on-her-anti-tour-112415 etc etc. This would be a huge deal as Glastonbury is often recognised as one of the biggest and most coveted festivals in the world. Will she follow in the footsteps of her contemporaries like Beyonce, Jay Z and Kanye West in providing a bit of variety to the headline spots normally dominated by white male rock bands? Also, can she pull it off?
Haroon 49,685
Omg it works out PERFECTLY, I really hope she does, maybe she can be the reason I'll go to my first festival I definitely think she can pull it off, she's headlined Wireless and T in the Park so I'm sure she can step it up another notch and kick ass at Glastonbury

I mean she has 20 top ten singles as a lead artist alone, 26 if you include features. I can't think of any other current star with that kind of a track record! She could easily full a headline set with just the hits, let alone the new material from Anti. It would be amazing to hear all of that at Glastonbury. No doubt the rock purists would be upset that they didn't get another headline set from Arctic Monkeys or something though
StrawberryBlond 14,101
Really don't think a Glastonbury crowd would like her. It's not the genre that gets their danders up, it's the lack of instrument playing. One of the reasons why Dolly Parton got such a good reception was because she played guitar. Similarly, if Gaga came on, she'd win respect by playing piano. At a rock festival, you've got to play an instrument to truly win respect. Glastonbury goers are usually anti commercial too, they don't want to see top 40 artists who are all about the money, not the art. That's why they got so annoyed about Beyonce, Jay and Kanye being there. They go to these festivals as an escape from the top 40 and what everyone else is listening to. Plus, from what I heard from a lot of 1 star reviews on ticketmaster, Rihanna's tour performances lately have been atrocious - she relies on playback and just uses lazy vocals and she turns up very late. Which is why I also think she might really struggle to sell tickets for this tour - the amount of people that were saying "this is the last time I'll ever see her live" on that site was overwhelming. What can Rihanna give to a Glastonbury audience? She can't sing well, can't play an instrument and her hits are very commercial (she didn't even write all that many of them either). If non-rock acts are going to be performing, they have to have talent and artistic integrity. It's just being used as nothing more than another promo gig recently and it's getting tiring. RAMROD 104,176
Rihanna is big in England, so I won't be surprised. She is the reason Rita Ora exist. Her mentor Jay- Z was there in 2008, so does Yoncé in 2011. So Rihanna can always perform there. ShockPop 7,747
As a Glastonbury goer, I can confirm the following: Mega-commercial acts with little to no artistic integrity are NOT invited. Gaga did it because at the time she was almost indy. She was booked while she had one hit, and she was electro indy dance, like La Roux in the UK at the time. Plus, she's an instrumentalist. Shakira did it because she's well known for her charity donations. Glastonbury is, after all, a charity event. Dolly was booked because she's a mother f'n legend. No foolin'. and a great writer. Rihanna is about as likely to get a booking as Justin Bieber. it's not going to happen. It's completely the wrong festival. It's dubbed, on your wrist band "Festival of the performing arts", not "festival of s--tty chart hits". Even Beyonce headlined it only due to her being a living legend with decades of music and a flawless performance record. She had something to offer and once again, is famous for being very charity oriented. Jay Z Did it - and was slated to hell - because once again, he's a writer with years of music and charity related business. Kanye west was booked due to his writing and artistry. It flopped worse than a gay erection at a lesbian convention, but that's why he was booked. There are no reasons to book Rihanna, and to be honest, it would be an embarrassment because firstly, she's not a big enough name to headline any of the main stages, and secondly, nobody would turn up to see her because Glastonbury isn't really about seeing "famous" people. MonsterOfSpain 8,278
Isn't her new tour a bit too ambitious? I mean she's got like 4 Stadium dates in France, she's playing Wembley... I don't mean she can't sell out but she's been off the scene for a while and people don't pay that much attention anymore.
