I'm not patronising, I just gave a thought out response to my claims. Let's be real, nothing on here affects our lives but on a forum it's common to discuss things even if you see comments you don't like. "Overrated" is not allowed because it's lazy/immature yet saying "omg yaass Queen Adele" is original and mature?

That's not the point. I don't see a response like that in this thread, anyway, but even if there was it's at least a positive response. You just injected negativity into the thread for no reason, with no thoughtful comment to back up what you were saying and you didn't even address the subject of the OP. I'm totally aware of how much I sound like Promote Online Kindness Gaga right now but it's just boring reading short negative posts that have no purpose other than to **** on the artist in question.

No not on this thread but there is probably on the other threads made recently, willing to bet on that.

I had a thoughtful comment to back up what I was saying, no need to ignore that if you gonna make a point about it. I stand by what I say and only because it's not going along with the masses should it not be straight up disregarded because it's not a praise. There are pro and con people in just about any thread on this forum why should this be different?

That you only made after you were called out on it. Your very first post said "Flawlessly overrated". You think that's a thoughtful comment?

Funny you should accuse me of ignoring what you've said when you're blatantly ignoring me. I didn't say it should be disregarded because it's not praise, I was clearly talking about your delivery. Since you're apparently having difficulty with reading and understanding my posts I'll pick those parts out for you:

"If you don't like it you don't have to pay attention, or at least say what you have to say in a less lazy/immature way than just "overrated"."

"You just injected negativity into the thread for no reason, with no thoughtful comment to back up what you were saying and you didn't even address the subject of the OP."

Not once did I say or suggest that you aren't allowed to dislike Adele or express that view. But people aren't going to see a negative two-worded post as anything other than hate even if you do have a legitimate view. If that's as small-minded as you want to appear then by all means carry on, but I can't see any reason why someone would want to post something that's not positive and/or doesn't contribute to the discussion in any way.

Yes, it is my opinion and no, I do not think my personal opinion is some finalized edict that all must fall in line behind so I'll agree with you there but all I'm saying is that I'm not the only one who feels that way...but still not having any idea what comparing an album to the sale statistics of a video game have anything to do with eachother or how that even adds to your argument.

Yeah I understand. The use of game sales data was simply a way of establishing the proportions we are working with when we use words like "majority". It is understandable that a musician who sells over 1 Million in their first week is considered universally appealing, since those are the ranges we are used to working with within the music industry. But comparing it to other forms of entertainment helps us give the matter some perspective. We can see that there is a huge market out there who's opinion about Adele cannot be understood because they simply don't consume her products. Therefore claiming that she is "considered" one of the best voices immediately becomes a subjective view.

I understand your point. And while I don't consider her voice to be particularly special, I do enjoy her music, and I like her as a musician. I just have a general dislike for extremism. And my whole point is that once we say that:

- "hello" is a great song, we're fine; ->
- When we say that Adele's voice is great in the song, we're fine;  ->
- When we say that her voice is great in anything that she decides to sing, we're becoming a bit extreme, but we're still fine; ->
- And when we say that she has one of the best voices of our time, we are starting to get carried away.

We establish false assumptions as universal truths, and we hold our musicians to unrealistic standards, which I don't think is healthy. :crossed:

Oh, I'm just visiting-

Ah. I understand now. I see your point of view, I still hold my personal opinion but I see where you're coming from. I do enjoy a nice civil discussion though, you're much more eloquent than I am, as you can see with my 4653 edits to each comment so I can fix my grammar and wording :toofunny:

Those 2 words were a perfect TL;DR of what I posted secondly. Seeing that everyone is jumping on it it seems people know exactly what I am talking about but just wanna dismiss it. I see no reason why I would have to write an epistle only because I didn't agree when anyone else that just says "amazing" is generally accepted. There is a simple reason why people post something not positive or not contributing to the discussion and that's because they can and feel that their opinion is just as valid. How would you have a discussion anyway with only like minded people, that's just a circlejerk. Since we won't agree on either views let's make an end to this, no need  to go back and forth over this really. Besides Resquid makes a good job in explaining it further.

Gosh I guess some people will really only read what they want to.

Yes, let's :rip:

Don't take this the wrong way but you are by far one of the best debaters on this site. You always stick by your opinions no matter  how many people come for you, where as I always back down in the face of onslaught.
