Harry 26,836
Our culture's obsession with negativity is so exhausting. Here we have a woman who is a very talented singer, writes her own music and is extremely successful thanks to it, yet we still have people running into each thread turning their nose up and smugly going "nah, overrated" I bet these are the same kind of people who talk about how many "talentless" people top the charts every week and we need "real musicians" blah blah blah. I'm not particularly a fan of Adele, I like a few songs from 25 but not the rest so I won't be buying it. But the word "overrated" is overrated. lol. But acting as if her vocals don't deserve the acclaim that they often receive is just delusional. She's probably one of, if not the best vocalist of our time. wait how is not liking her voice delusional but thinking that she is "one of the best vocalists of our time" not? Both opinions are equally subjective. just sayin Oh, I'm just visiting-

Partially this. And when I watch her sing it looks like she's breathing improperly? And she's not the greatest vocalist of our time. She is a fantastic and pristine vocalist but not certainly the greatest. My definition of the greatest vocalist is different than anyone else's

She is a 'sensitve, singer-songwriter'; her vocal disposition lies within 'interpretation' and that is the region for which she is most comfortable and is familiar with. Tthe media put her on the pedestal of being the "vocalist of the new generation" and that has done her an extreme injustice because she is nothing more than a mere singer. Which is fine, she never claimed to be a vocalist in the first place.

Snow 1,582
Let's just say that none of The this sites faves is "Greatest vocalist". Thats a whole nother subject. And btw there are certain objective criteria that can be applyed there. So its not wholly a matter of opinion. Like Gaga for instance is NOWHERE even near that category, no matter how much one likes her vocals. Now as for Adele. Her vocals are really good (in this genre) but most of ALL she has a wonderful ability to convey relatable emotion through her singing and lyrics. She sounds effortless. Thats why she is loved. Plus she has a nice phrasing, great versitily in her tone etc that are signs of a great vocalist.

But reading over and over again about how "overrated" she is comes off as extremely bitter. Why should it bother you if people think she's the best vocalist? Does it really affect your life? She is a more talented artist than the majority of her contemporaries and that's something that should be celebrated. If you don't like it you don't have to pay attention, or at least say what you have to say in a less lazy/immature way than just "overrated". So original. Dayman 6,191
She's got a good voice but it just doesn't do anything for me. She just sounds a lot like some of the girls who I went to school with who sang in chorus and all that. Very technical and precise. There's not really a lot of individuality to her voice. Her song writing is top notch though and that's what so many others lack. Anyone can train their voice and sing any old song - but to be a good song writer on top of it is damn hard. So while musically she's my equivalent of watching wet paint dry, I do have to give her a ton of respect for her writing if not anything else. zexion_armando 241
Best vocalist of our time... Only due to her over exposure... We have plenty better vocalist.
AdAstra 2,649
Never have I ever regretted using the phrase "best vocalist of our time" more than now. Lord.

Yeah I apologize I used the word "tone" but I meant to write "voice". I fixed it already The fact that Adele is the "best vocalists of our time" is your opinion, and therefore it is what you expect other people to think as well. But there is nothing that tells us that this is true. Do you have actual statistics about this? Her album is predicted to sell a lot, but compared to other forms of modern-day entertainment, it's nowhere near the "majority", considering just this month the game Fallout 4 managed to sell 12 million copies on it's first day. Adele is nowhere near those numbers, so no. Her voice is not praised by "the majority". Even within the field of music fans of jazz have much better singers; fans of metal have female singers who are infinitely more talented than Adele; fans of classical music know opera singers who would put Adele to shame. Adele is a very talented singer within the pop music scene, and even there I think Gaga is a better singer. She is nowhere near the best vocalist of our time. Let's be real, nothing on here affects our lives but on a forum it's common to discuss things even if you see comments you don't like. "Overrated" is not allowed because it's lazy/immature yet saying "omg yaass Queen Adele" is original and mature?
GagaMyBlood95 9,915
Okay, since Hello was released, I definitely became a fan, after I've listened to the whole album, I became a stan, and now I don't know what to do with these perfect perfomances
RAMROD 111,379
Why can't y'all just enjoy the music. Adele is excellent. This album is amazing. Yes, it is my opinion and no, I do not think my personal opinion is some finalized edict that all must fall in line behind so I'll agree with you there but all I'm saying is that I'm not the only one who feels that way...but still not having any idea what comparing an album to the sale statistics of a video game have anything to do with eachother or how that even adds to your argument.
