Well, the public have ended careers over a lot less, that's all I'll say. I'm not a supporter of this theory of "oppressed people can say whatever they want because they're oppressed." There is no excuse for condoning hate. I'm a woman but I don't feel the need to hate on men because I can get away with it because I'm the disadvantaged gender. Hate is hate and it's unacceptable. If you give some people the right to dish it out without consequences, you're going to fuel overblown egos and keep the cycle of hate turning.

Again, plenty of black rappers have credibility despite not being any good. Judging by what's been popular and praised recently, I'd say the bar is set extremely low. So, I find it rather frustrating when I see a rapper who's no worse (and makes raps that make sense into the bargain) being treated like s**t. I really don't like to see nasty people getting success, so I think it's sad when someone as nice as Iggy gets unneccesarily hated on while someone unlikeable like Nicki gets overblown praise. Please, you're just coming up with excuses now. How can you prove her niceness is an act? I can see through people very well and this girl is real, I can feel it. You're essentially saying that every white artist will be successful if they're nice. As a music reviewer, I can confirm this is nonsense. If anything, it's people with attitude problems who are selling the best right now and not all of them are white. You've just got to look at how super nice Gaga got outsold by the likes of nasty Rihanna to see that sometimes, being bad is a plus in the industry and the nice people suffer.

Tell me which black rappers are widespread, long lasting commercial appeal or critically acclaimed while being bad? Tell me cause i'd like to know.

Iggy gets hated on because she makes bad music...what is so hard to understand? lol Just because she's a big white star in your bright, white shimmering eye doesn't mean everyone else has to love mediocrity.

And you said it yourself, you prefer a "nice"r artists. Its all marketing sis, if your in the music industry you have to know about PR and marketing and all that.

I root for you. I love you. You, you, you, you.

Iggy is a bad rapper, even if she wasnt white. She cannot rap for ****, her lyrics are trash, her live performances are disgusting, she only has her image, which is why she's successful (was). I feel embarrassed that this thread is even here, when white people is privileged, and thats why this girl got hits, because she was easy to swallow and relate to.

Wiz Khalfia, Big Sean, Future and Fetty Wap all have achieved success and critical praise despite being unspeakably bad. I doubt a white guy could get away with the trash they call music. No, apparently, when you're white, you have to be of the highest possible standard and sing about "real" stuff to get the baseline level of respect meanwhile black rappers are laughing all the way to the bank with their raps about asses and trap queens. Its funny because when the subject is of someone white like Iggy, the issue of "rap should be real, she isn't from the streets" and "rap should be real, not about Clueless videos and black widows" comes up...but when a black rapper sings about superficial, stereotypical stuff like big booties, clubbing, cheating on your girlfriend and making money, they're called good rappers. When you're white, you can't be taken seriously if you want to make lighthearted rap but when you're black, you can do whatever the f**k you want and get praised for being good. Double standards drive me mad.

Please stop using the word "white" in a sarcastic way. I don't like Iggy because she's white and I'm white, I like her because her music is good. I actually never set out to like her at all, I thought she was another talentless rapper wannabe thinking she can get ahead on s-xuality alone but changed my mind when I actually gave her a chance. I doubt most of her haters have even listened to her work outside her singles. I don't judge based on race, gender or any other superficial stuff, all I hear is good or bad music. Sure, you have the right to disagree, but don't try to paint me as someone who only appreciates white artists for racist reasons.

I know all about marketing and PR. Every artist does it. Some are real with it, some not. Iggy seems too tentative and non media trained for her to be a fake. Most of my favourite rappers have nice personalities and seem down to earth - Missy Elliott, Lil Kim, Immortal Technique. Eminem's the only one I like who's a bit of a difficult person to deal with at times. Dr Dre's somewhere in the middle. But I just can't stand rappers who have a really bad attitude, especially when they think they're far better than they are and all about self indulgence in interview. Nicki's a prime example of that.

The rappers you mentioned aren't even that critically acclaimed. Fetty Wap won't have another number one album thats for sure. Wiz has a album MC average of 59, (and his first album got an even LOWER score than TNC), Future isn't acclaimed either (Edit: I lied, Future is pretty acclaimed it seems, so ill agree that he's overrated) and Big Sean is a good rapper so he doesn't really belong on the list. These guys don't have hit after hit, nor do they have super acclaimed bodies of work, so really this goes against your (slightly racist), blacks get an easy pass for bad music theory. And if you assume that they are worse than Iggy (which only one of the ones you listed is), its all in the same boat. They get no respect because they don't deserve respect. Objectively, hate on Future's music just as much as Iggy's. The only thing is Iggy stans (and pop stans in general) are the ones to take it personal.

And theres non-black rappers who can have light hearted qualities to their music, Watsky, Asher Roth, Awkwafina, etc. But they have word play, flow, and creative qualities.

And tell me, how is it that you don't judge based on race, when you spent the last 11 pages preaching how black rappers get a free pass to be bad because they are black, and since your poor white star isn't halted as a rap messiah so we must lament for her. You can't tell me Iggy's nice gal routine isn't fake when she was gloating in front of Kid Fury how she was gonna "slay because she was tall and white."

You keep posting those big ass essays to seem intelligent and "showing" that you know what you are talking about, but you are just writing bulls--t, nothing factual there, all of this is just what you want people to think and you want people to agree with you. Since you made this thread asking for opinions and when someone says NO, you go and try to disclaim what they said lol

Fetty Wap still got an average of 7/10 for his album, that's pretty good for a one hit wonder. Admittedly, I must have remembered Wiz's scores wrong (although I don't really count his earlier albums because pre-Black And Yellow, he was unknown and being unknown in itself can cause poor scoring but being famous gets you that acclaim). Big Sean's flow is terrible, his vocals in general atrcious and irritating and he makes stupid songs like Dance A$$ and I Don't F**k With You (how any rapper can be taken seriously after that astounds me). I'm not talking about how many hits they have, but how seriously they're taken by critics and the rap community as a whole. They at least get regarded as ok, rarely ever terrible. You don't think rap fans take it personal when people dislike their fave? They come for blood when you do.

And are any of those white rappers successful? No. This is why I don't get where this idea of "white rappers only make it because they sing about mainstream stuff," and "white guys in record labels want this white form of rap to be the new future of the genre" comes from. Barely any white rappers have made it. Barely any white rappers have awards. The ones who sing about mainstream stuff don't last long. Record labels are scared to sign any unknown artist, regardless of race. Record labels are scared to launch a white rapper (the hate towards Iggy has ensured that we probably won't see another white female rapper for a long time now).

Everything that I posted about race is based on how the rap community and the public at large regard rappers, not my views. I don't judge on these things, but a lot of other people do. This is in response to their judgements. I didn't say we should lament for Iggy, but just question if the hate really is justified (honestly, if I was her, I'd be weeping every night). I can't find a video of this quote you speak of but I'm 99.9% sure she was joking nevertheless. I mean, how does being tall guarantee musical success? It's just sarcasm. Iggy's made jokes about her race before.

Oh, please. If you knew a list of all the artists I dislike, about 80% of them are whites. I don't have solidarity over anyone because of race. But I will defend them if I think they're being unfairly treated and assumed to be racist because they're white. But that's just because I have a strong sense of justice. I'd do the same if I wasn't white. If comments like yours are still considered funny and acceptable, we really have a long way to go to end racism.

Here was a great video of a racism experiment. The first part is about a white guy being racist to a black guy. From 2:05 and onwards, the situation's reversed. Check out the shocking reactions from the public, even some who are white. And the moment at 3:10 blew me away and actually makes me want to cry. This is what whites are up against and it's very serious and can result in unlawful court action. Doesn't matter if we're privileged in general, there's still some areas where we are clearly thought the worst of:

If you'd read what I'd said in my post after yours and the one above this, you would have seen how I explained that I'm not defending her because she's white like me. There's no "knowing she's untalented" about it. Our ears take in music differently and process it differently. And here I was thinking that being a Lana stan actually gives us something in common, but you're just like that other Lana fan who shall not be named. What does who I stan for outside of rap have anything to do with this anyway?

You don't think it's wrong that white rappers have to be twice as good as a black rapper to be considered half as good? Doesn't matter what race it's happening to, it's wrong.

Insulting me for my "essays" is so out of fashion. Everyone knows this is just me. I write a lot because I have a lot to say. Of course I need people to know that I know what I'm talking about to be taken seriously. What, that's a negative thing now? I do post a lot of facts when needed and base opinions based on facts. Yes, I asked people for opinions, but that doesn't mean that I couldn't critique them. That's what a discussion's all about. But it wasn't about trying to win, if that's what you're thinking.

I don't want to quote and have all that text repeating so ill just @ you lol

@StrawberryBlond I think you're missing the huge point that people don't like iggy just because she's white. People don't like iggy because they don't like her music. You don't have to make it so personal. No one has a vendetta against the "queen of female white rappers from austiallia who tried pop first, but a failed so then she stole a black accent and got some writers for a few hits". Iggy got that title on lock :D

So be freeeeeeee go listen to The New Classic with its numerous writers, and watch some awkward live performances and be a fan. Live your life queen.

And thats all i have to say!

I root for you. I love you. You, you, you, you.

You're entitled to your opinion. As long as you're putting it down nicely and don't insult me, I'm fine. But I could do without the sarcasm. I normally prefer deeper rap music but out of the lighthearted stuff, I'd rather listen to Iggy than some people singing inaudibly about dope, sounding like they're singing without ever closing their mouth. I'm not saying she's the best rapper or lyricist or performer. But she's nowhere near as bad as people make her out to be. I hope she can prove people wrong when she releases her new album (with a title like Digital Distortion, it might not be as commercial). Doubt she'll ever top the success of her debut, but hey, I'd rather people changed their minds about her talent as opposed to her being at #1 on Billboard.
