Well...they're basically the only successful girl group in the US atm. I don't like their music, but it makes sense.

Yeah, they should have awarded more women who are actually interesting performers. For example, I feel like they should have awarded Janelle Monae the trailblazer award. This year she launched her own independent record label, which is boss as **** because she's a WOC (which is rare in itself in the industry) and it's not just a vanity venture, she's actually running it and overseeing seasoned artists like Deep Cotton. 

If they were set on awarding Lana they should have given her the "Rulebreaker" award - her career is so unique in that she's proving you don't have to go the old school route of promoting everywhere and visiting radio stations to be successful in your own right. 

Selena as Chart Topper makes sense, GFY was one of the highest female debuts of the year. The only other contender would be Ellie, but this is just about the same difference IMO. 

Powerhouse award could have gone to someone like Sia for her prolific songwriting. IDK who Brittany Howard even is.

These awards tho.... I feel like they are summer camp awards. Most of them don't make sense. Turning into teen choice awards :neyde:
