MelbHawker 6,583
Why is so hard for people to understand that people's perceptions & feelings towards music changes over time?Isn't a straightforward concept that people have the tendency to 'like' something more when it's first released because it's new as opposed to 'liking' it after being exposed to it for years? ARTPOP's not a piece of sh*t. It just didn't reflect the hype and promise Gaga/Interscope made during it's release.
Linus Gaga 8,179
Cuz theyre fake fans maybe , i like those songs , but the commercial is not enough i think , and the planning of the album is not perfect enough Hit me a message and say hi ! LaLuna 12,732
Because it didn't do as well as expected. Sad but true. Also, the era was a complete mess, which certainly didn't help. It's sad because it's a pretty damn decent pop album in its own right. Let's be honest, it's not Gaga's best work, but it's not the huge steaming pile of crap some people make it out to be either. TheOriginalOne 10,626
This thread is so late. People started talking badly about ARTPOP as soon as the sales numbers came in.
Tropico 4,145
Had people been so use to Gaga albums always tanking, maybe the reviews of the album would be a little less affected by the era and not the music. ♢ Social Justice Enthusiast ♢

Alfonso 1,547
I think it did reach #1 though. I love the album and think it's the best pop release of 2013. Bad management isn't going to ruin it for me.same
SpaceJam 292
So I remember during the ARTPOP era, when the album was coming out and everyone was freaking out. I remember how everyone was talking about how they loved every song and how amazing it was. Well, how come all of a sudden people are acting like the album is a piece of ****? I get it, people change, and your music tastes changes. But it doesn't mean that it's a bad song, I don't know... I just get frustrated, I'm just tired of seeing people saying Gaga flipped. I mean, even Monsters say this stuff. As Monsters, we agree and stand by what she says, but I haven't really been seeing that all the time lately. Discuss below! She started off the era so badly with the photoshopped single cover that was leaked, and then the single choice was poor. Then her management Fd her over, then R kelly had more rape charges. Then the MV for DWUW got delayed. Then Guy was like 7 singles or some bs LMAO and that is why it failed. ARTPOP wasnt even that album she wanted, Interscope pressured her to make a hit album that everyone else was making, its not all her fault.
SpaceJam 292
Not to say I didnt enjoy ARTPOP lol I thought it was ok, but Interscope is alot to blame.
Chuckles 2,549
I actually had a reverse warholian experience, at first I didn't like it (mostly because of the changes from iTunes festival versions) but know I enjoy every single song in the album
HEARTHUNTER 7,611
ARTPOP is a good album, the only problem with it is that it should have been 7 to 8 songs long, because there are songs that destroy the album's quality. As for the success stans, fake w---es fade out with time, you shouldn't be annoyed by that, just ignore them. I just want Gaga to be happy, I don't really care about success, unless it gives her more accessibility to us.
Demon Of Razgriz 57
Maybe it wasn't their type of music and it didn't spark well? (My reason) Or maybe the hype ruined it? People expected the second coming of Anubis and they only got a CD with songs on it so they were disappointed? That's what happened to me with GTA V. OR maybe they figured "If it's not doing well on the charts, It must suck!"? Personally, I wasn't crazy about ARTPOP the first time I listened to it. It took a while for it to grow on me. I think it's objectively a good album, but I think I was hoping for more experimentation. this I love Zedd and his productions but he has teamed up with so many artist that for now his stuff sounds dated for me to have brought it to the next level would of been if she teamed up and had it sonnicaly the entire Album like Aura/Venus

Both Aura and Venus have a retro vibe but also some experimental elements (or to me anyway). I know she originally wanted Aura to have been a single. I can definitely see a killer video for that and loved how it introduces the album. I was surprised not to have heard more stuff like that throughout when I first listened. Just repeat to yourself, "It's just a show. I should really just relax."
