First of all, i don t want to cause any flamebaiting. Second, i am not an expert. And for the record Cher never reached overrall the Madonna success. I just did something wrong with the quote thing:derpga:

But, Madonna has the double subscribers:hunty:

Wait, what do subscribers have to do with a conversation about views?

LORD GAGA

i never implied she did... i implied that Madonna overshadowed Cher, further success could only follow... similar to what is happening to Madonna with Lady Gaga its almost like a 'replacement' but not really... because that is idiotic. There is no way you didn't know this would be flame bait, and you sure seem to be quite versed in everything that is madonna and her success.

No. For starters, that 16 million figure is The Fame and The Fame Monster, and with BTW being at around 7 million WW, that's pretty consistent. Add that to the fact that album sales have been on a rapid decline these past few years, and the massive amount of single sales Gaga has that launch her well over 100 million records sold worldwide (a number Cyndi never hit). Gaga's also won a lot more Grammys (6 vs 2), and has been able to maintain relevance by branching out into other areas of entertainment. If any pop girl was to be considered the Cyndi of the 2010s, I would say Kesha.

Plus, Katy has also experienced a significant sales decline when taking into account singles and albums. Whereas Madonna's sales increased between her second and third album, Katy's decreased, as did her singles. So neither comparison is valid IMO.

This right here.  This explanation says it all.    Why are you guys so worried about Gaga?  I love Cyndi Lauper with all my heart, too, but Gaga is miles more talented than her (IMO) and based on that talent, Gaga will be relevant for years to come.

Who really cares if she doesn't have another smash album that dominates the BB Hot 100?  I know I don't.  I'd rather her rack up awards such as Grammys, Oscars, Emmys, AMAs, VMAs, etc and be a top 20 hit maker with a few top 5s every now and then over being a "hit-maker".  As long as she remains relevant, that's all that'll matter to me at the end of the day.

I don't care what you think about unless it is about me.

Actually Bedtime Stories was her second flop in the 90's. Which was also about 70% less than IMC. She tried to hard to emulate the current pop diva of that time Janet Jackson. Pretty mush every song on Bedtime Stories sounded like That's the Way Love Goes.  All the sudden she was dating TuPac and tried to put out a RnB record.

Yep!  I remember everyone was writing Madonna off after Bedtime Stories failed to sell as much as critics thought it would.  Erotica and Bedtime Stories were not nearly as successful as her 80s albums and people were all saying she was over but then she redeemed herself with Ray of Light and Music.

Well, Gaga does reminds me more of Cyndi than of Madonna, which is good in my book, so maybe.

The ones calling Cyndi untalented can go get ****ed by a chainsaw btw, judging her from GJWHF and calling her closer to Katy Perry is like judging Gaga from Just Dance (or at best, Pokerface)

I kind of agree.

I still think Gaga's set for a huge commercial return with LG5 thanks to 2015 but time will tell

You're stinky

Yep!  I remember everyone was ridding Madonna off after Bedtime Stories failed to sell as much as critics thought it would.  Erotica and Bedtime Stories were not nearly as successful as her 80s albums and people were all saying she was over but then she redeemed herself with Ray of Light and Music.

her only two good albums

Sorry if this is a long post/rant but this comparison has always annoyed me. :awkney:

The fact that Gaga's album sale mimic those of a huge pop star in the 80's is not an indicator of her being like that pop star (This comparison is only used by Madonna/Katy fans to disprove Gaga's impact). It also indicates that despite the declining music sales of the entire industry over 30 years - her peak managed to sell the same as a popstar in the 80's (who had massive hits too) which further proves that Lady Gaga has accomplished more things in 7 years than Cyndi Lauper has in 30.

Gaga has also accomplished more things in 7 years compared to Madonna/Katy but that's another discussion that I do not want to entertain. :coffee:

If any pop girl is currently the Modern Cyndi Lauper - it's arguably Ke$ha. (to keep my post smaller I will not go into detail why they are similar but a quick Wikipedia search of both of their careers will give you all the information that you need to form your own opinion.)

Both were unsuccessful by their 3rd album meanwhile Gaga's 3rd album "Born This Way" debuted with 2m+ copies WW in its first week, 1m+ copies in the US, and it's total number in general is around 6-8 million copies. That's another peak for Gaga while Cyndi/Ke$ha were no longer relevant. No shade. :miley:

Lady Gaga will be remembered as Lady Gaga. The popstar who managed to remain relevant despite "flopping", similar to the polarizing impact that Madonna had while flopping. Meanwhile if Gaga's current peers started flopping they would be irrelevant by the next day. Let's pray for them and not for Gaga because they need it the most.

Who's second account is this? LOL

I've got a guess.

This question in this thread is one that's been going around for years from a certain fan group. I've seen this exact thread on here before. It's a rather pitiful attempt. You would think they could come up with something better by now.

Trying to make predictions about Gaga's future based on Madonna or Cyndi Lauper's career trajectories is pointless. Cyndi's hit-making career was pretty much completely over 5 years into her career. Even if Gaga were to never reach the heights of her early career again, it's unlikely that she'll fail to ever chart again (like Cyndi did). Gaga's already had more hit singles than Cyndi Lauper, and Cyndi had 2 CHR/Pop #1s in her career (compared to Gaga's 7 so far).

Also, by the time Cyndi was touring for her third album, she wasn't touring arenas and a select amount of stadiums. She also was never a worldwide force the way Gaga is, starting with the first era through now.
