See, this is why I think Adele is overrated. The fact you're that sure she's more talented them Madonna is sad. Madonna's just as great a gong writer. Her last album, which she co wrote all the songs on, was great lyrically. Madonna has also co written many if her iconic singles like "Lucky Star", "Get Into The Groove", "Open Your Heart", Like A Prayer, Express Yourself, Etc.

Yes she is, she has a lot of help when it comes to songwritting, and the songwritting isn't that original or out of this world. The theme for her songs are limited to lost love, or unrequitted love and breakups.. not very original in that department either..

Her music videos are quite boring tbh

But she has an amazing voice and one of the best on the business right now

I respect her and love her and i listen to her songs, but i'll never "stan" for her , so yeah i do think she's quite overrated.

Destiny is for losers. It’s just a stupid excuse to wait for things to happen instead of making them happen

So by cowriting an album that was received pretty poorly by critics she is somehow better than Adele, usually globally renowned for her lyrical capability as well as her being the main writer of almost all of her songs?

Rebel Heart did pretty well critically. Not that critics matter but it got some great reviews.

It depends on how "overrated" is defined. Sometimes I think she is. Let me explain why (and please don't drag me, I like her a lot and I just explain MY opinion!!):

Her voice is really, really amazing and her songwriting skills are amazing as well but I don't get the immense hype for her right now. "Hello" is a good song but it doesn't blow me away (escpecially when I compare it to a few of her older songs). I think it all depends on one's personal taste and I've never been that kind of person who loves ballads a lot! Maybe that's why I can't relate to her so much and sometimes I have the feeling like she's singing about the same issues all the time. She never tries something new and innovative so I don't see her impact on the whole industry in general.

I think that a lot of the hype right now comes from the fact that she's been away for so long and people were hungry for some new music. However, I think she deserves to be on the top right now and I'm happy for her. It's just that I would never ever stan for her.

Yes. Her songs are simple-written. I think she is the most overrated artist ever. :lana:

To say this we'll have to wait and see what is on her album though... Adele said that new themes will be on it and new genres. I'm pretty sure she'll get at least one dance song on 25.

First off you literally ignored everything I said, and secondly, Rebel Heart was average at best when it comes to its critical response, usually scoring 3/5 stars or B to B- ratings. Adele's albums, on the other hand, (those of which she actually was a main a sole writer for the majority of unlike Madonna) are praised unanimously. 21 is usually called one of the best albums of the past few decades.

You're trying to prove that Madonna is somehow a better writer than Adele because she cowrote songs on an album that both under performed and received average to poor reviews is the point I'm trying to make.

Kevin Parker, Mac Demarco, Mark Ronson, and a stoned Lady Gaga. Need I say more?

lI never said she was bad though, just saying that I believe Adele has something. I don't really see much substance in most songwriting anymore, Madonna is good in that. I just feel like it went down with songs like BIM.

But doesn't Adeles genre of music usually do better with critics anyway? And just because Adele had better reviews and more sales doesn't make her more talented then Madonna. We could say she's more talents then Gaga using the same logic.

No.

Yes she writes songs about love that are not original, but she speaks from her soul and interprets her lyrics through her amazing voice.

There is a reason why the GP love Adele and that is because she speaks to a wide variety of people who see her music as ease. Not to mention she only needs a microphone to blow everyone away.

In my messy era.

Firstly, Adele is an extraordinary singer.

It's just bizarre to me that she generates such an excessive level of buzz and praise for songs that sound remarkably similar to what she's done in the past.

There's a thick layer of dullness and predictability to Adele and her music that I can't quite get past.

Madonna's writing is just as good as Adele's, she co wrote everything on Rebel Heart and that was a great album. Most of it was better then Hello.

THERE IS NOT A SINGLE SONG ON REBEL HEART THAT IS HALF AS GOOD AS HELLO :awkney: Btw Adele wrote Someone Like You totally on her own and it's better than any Madonna songs in vocals/lyrics and melody..(And I am a big fan of Madonna's discography)
