how is it that money that's put into your country not helpful

As the saying goes, debts make promises and promises make debts.

The money comes with a price, one that we continually pay for when we base most of our political decisions, or lately our non-decisions, on the whims of those who put the cash in our pockets.

A simple example is all the money Iran puts in Hezbollah's pockets. Sure it improves the lives of the Shiites that live in the South, but it comes with the expectation of loyalty and zealotry.

who's main (and mostly only) source of income comes from agricultural output. we're bound to be in tons of depth regardless of the intentions or motives because then of the money borrowed. it's inevitable.

This is blatantly incorrect. Did you not take Civics in High School? It's like emblazoned in my brain thanks to the exams we take hehe. Only 10% of our income is from Agriculture. Even Industry beats it out at around 20%. The overwhelming majority of Lebanese income are from Services, Commerce, Tourism, and Construction.

Admittedly, cash flow from Arab countries in those departments contributes to a significant, but not overwhelming, percentage of our income. Some see that as a good thing, like you do. I don't, because it comes with heavy political influence whether you like it or not.

I'd rather Lebanese people be humbled and stand on their own feet rather than consistently be wholeheartedly dependent on other nations for our success. The problem isn't that we can't do it, it's just that we're too comfortable in being controlled. We haven't had a president in two years but no ****s are given in general. What kind of populace accepts that?

All I think is that a good old fashioned economic crisis from the Arab countries or anywhere else really should be a good wake up call. Call me sadistic, but I'm patriotic and think Lebanese people are better than this situation they've consistently let themselves be placed in.
