The media exaggerated the story, they didn't manipulate it. He is full of himself and he didn't really give any good excuse. He just did it because everyone else does it, that's his excuse.

Edit: Also don't believe what he says.  Pyrimethamine is on the World Health Organization's List of Essential Medicines and it's considered as one of the most important medications needed in a basic health system. You can still get a tablet imported directly from the UK for less than $7 per tablet. There wasn't need for more research, that's bs
