What is this the 1950s? Honestly this racism **** in schools needs to have a definite end, we can't have this type of thinking overpowering an educational system which is supposed to not take racial aspect into "cases" like this.

Look at it this way :

"Court suspends a child from school for staring at a girl".

There's no need to put labels on everything, they didn't suspend him BECAUSE he was black. :saladga:

This. Racism will probably always be a problem, but there's no reason to bring the race card into everything that happens. It's getting out of control.

President Biden

I think the demonization of males is just as much in play here as racism. What if the genders were reversed and a guy reported a girl for this.

yeah. My assistant principal at my school told the girls boys are all perverts and we are highly discriminated for our so call pervertness. Like for Pete sake it's middle school. Like half of us haven't even dated someone let alone s-xually assault a person. There's nothing wrong with bein attracted to the human body especially in middle school!

Nah, boys are perverts, period.

And this is coming from a boy that's seen other boys acting.

Not saying that I agree with the suspension, however this article seems a little one-sided as it only tells the boys side of the story. I looked up a little more information on the story and found that (unsurprisingly) the girl and her family dispute their side of the story and claim that the boys had trapped her in a closet, which led to the suspension. Not the staring.

"The parents of the female student complained to the school, saying she felt "fearful", according to court documents cited by Fox19.com. WLWT.com says the female student claims the boys cornered her in a classroom closet."

Obviously it's a he-said-she-said situation, but I thought it was pertinent that both sides get their say in the thread.

EDIT: I also found a statement from the school that also disputed the boy's mother's story:

"The disciplinary action taken by St. Gabriel Consolidated School a year ago against two students has been widely mischaracterized by a parent who unsuccessfully sued the school. Two seventh-grade males, one white and one black, were suspended for one day because of actions that far exceeded 'staring.'

The student whose mother sued acknowledged in an apology note, and under oath at trial, that his actions intimidated the female student and made her uncomfortable. That student also admitted that he was not friends with the female student, that he never told her they were playing any kind of game, that he approached her without saying anything, and that when she backed away from him, he moved closer to her. Once that student stopped, the other boy continued with the same routine.

The incident was investigated by the school and all three students were interviewed by two seventh-grade teachers and St. Gabriel's principal. Ultimately, the boys were given a one-day suspension. St. Gabriel's parent-student handbook, which the male student and his parents signed and agreed to follow, explicitly lists intimidation as conduct that may result in a suspension.

The parents of one of the male students sued the school in the Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas. That student, his mother, and St. Gabriel's principal all testified. Each of the arguments raised by the student's mother to have the one-day suspension removed from her son's attendance record were rejected by Judge Patrick Dinkelacker.

It is highly regrettable that some have sought to introduce a racial element into a situation where none existed. The female student involved has been described in some accounts as white. She is, in fact, Asian, a point which the mother of the student who filed the lawsuit learned in November of last year. The other male student (who also received a one-day suspension) is white."

I would so call him out on that tbh, I remember when I called out my principal in front of the school at th discipline because I felt the dress code was s-xist against people of both genders.

According to the school, there were two students suspended: one white and one black, and they were not simply staring at the girl but had trapped her in a closet. Also, the girl is apparently not White, but Asian. Further, apparently in the apology letter the boys admitted that they were not friends with the girl, they didn't tell her it was a game and they didn't stop when she asked them to.

If the school's statements are true, I'm not surprised that the suspension was upheld by the court.

OK I'm gonna act "normal" to you.

WOW OMG The only possible explanation is that they suspended him because he was black.

Hope you're happy now. :madge:
