  1. 1. Do you think Macklemore and Ryan Lewis Are Becoming a One Hit Album Wonder?

    • Yes, the only reason this song has even reached the Top 20 is because of the hype of the last album.

    • Umm, check back with me when the second single and album have been released. Then we'll know.

It's been five weeks now since "Downtown", the lead single to Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' second album, was released. The song reached a peak of #16 on the Hot 100 in its fourth week and stays at that peak right now. The song has also reached a peak of #13 on Mainstream Top 40 radio. Now while this would be great numbers for someone like...Demi Lovato, it's underperforming their earlier singles. Of course, there is still time for this song to grow. A typical single promotion cycle is 12 weeks, so they're about halfway through. Have Macklemore and Ryan Lewis lost their mojo, or is it to early to tell? You be the judge.

I listened to Downtown for the first time yesterday and it is basically Thrift Shop with new lyrics :air:

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

they have been longer in the game than just the Heist, their second hip-pop album will maybe not sell as much as the heist, but they are still recognisable. I don't think they will be labeled a flop, esp since their tours do very well. Carly R Jepsen on the other hand :green:

just like Carly Rae, Gotye, fun, Lorde etc... People think they are established cos they manage to have a second hit after their initial smash and decent album sales but after that ain't nobody checks for them. It happened to M&RL & will be the same for Sam

they had many hits off their first album and their playing their cards right so I am sure there will be ore to come. He is the new slim shady but with less hate.

They should have released it earlier in the summer and it would have been the 2015 summer smash that never was...

How funny that you brought Lorde into this when your icon is a One Direction rejection, who apparently have released more than one album but I doubt anyone knows about them? What are their titles? Best Song Ever and The Ha Ha song?

They have a second song out.  Growing Up feat. Ed Sheeran.  It's one of the most played songs on the Top 40 radio station here.

It sounds like nothing like Thrift Shop although the videos look alike.

This was released before Downtown for free on their site.

Are you being sarcastic? Is this really being played on radio? :rip:
