Do #1 singles even matter anymore in this day and age? Should she just focus on releasing a body of work and having everyone absorb and appreciate that? Or should she continue to strive for hit #1 singles?

Yes, a single promotes the rest of the album.
im not here for a 'BEYONCE' type era where its over the second it starts.

BTW and ARTPOP are the proof she is an album artist

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

She should.

Singles are what is played on the radio, in public places and usually what people buy the most and serve to promote the album.

I never bothered listening to The Weeknd until his recent singles' success.

So I guess if you want your entire work to be appreciated, you have to chart well. If single success is going to help people appreciate your other works, why not?

I feel like if she tried to get one or two or seven #1s off this record, that would be okay, but a cohesive body of work would be really good and help her get acclaim. That's really important now.

she should,  more success means more appreciation for her work demand for her tours to perform her songs all over the world and that also means more budget for her music videos to fund her art and ambition

My Favs = Lady Gaga, Janet Jackson, Ricky Martin, AKB48

I don't think it's so much about reaching #1 or even the number for that matter, but having successful singles that get radio play is important if she wants to be seen as relevant. At the same time, Beyoncé kind of proves this not always necessary. She is an icon and her music is critically acclaimed, but doesn't get a lot of hit singles.

Cold as ice cream, but still as sweet.

not to mention better chances for award nominations meaning better chances at given the opportunity to deliver legendary performances
