Even though Gaga gave many explanations for her unusual fashion choices over the years, we all know the truth: Dressing in her way made people notice her, it helped her become recognized and talked about for a long time, it was a part of her shock tactics, what will she do next??? Luc Carl, her ex also confirmed this:

So in the beginning Gaga dressed unusually, and it worked, so she did it more. Nowadays, she looks normal and looks like any other celebrity and people praise her for it all the time, they are relieved to see her look normal "for once". Do you think that this will influence her to tone it down during her next era? I could see her doing what she did for the oscars: put on a normal dress with an unusual touch.

I think she'll have some elements to be provocative; but she won't be as outrageous as TFM. She tried too hard during ARTPOP; but people simply lost their interest. Maybe something common with provocative elements ala Oscars for people to talk

Umm.. I don't think that's the sole reason she chooses to dress eccentrically. That's a really downgrading  way to look at her art.

Anybody can wear random things. It's the way she did it and how it relates to her work that makes it unique.

If crazy means designer, then hopefully yes. I don't think her eccentric clothes are ''crazy'', just different and interesting. I want to see leather, metallic and transparent elements!

Luc is bitter, he also told her she'll never succeed so you shouldn't take his word for anything.

She will dress however she feels at the moment. I don't think she'll be "toned-down" forever.

I was just thinking that since Carl knew her back then, he is a better source than most people who look at her through interviews. I didn't know Monsters discredit him and say he's a liar. It's not like we know better than the guy who dated her for years.
