-Cher releases 'Closer to the Truth’, her first album in 12 years. The album becomes her highest charting solo album at #3.

-Drake releases his third studio album ‘Nothing Was the Same”. The album went #1 and has sold 1.7 million copies in the US. It features the #6 charting song “Started form the Bottom” and the #4 song "Hold On, We’re Going Home”.

2002
-Sean Paul releases his second studio album “Dutty Rock”, which earned two top 10 singles, “Gimme the Light” (#7) and “Get Busy” (#1). The album has sold over 2 million copies in the US. 

1996
-Weezer release their second album “Pinkerton”. The album fails miserably compared to their previous effort. ‘Pinkerton’ has sold 850,000 albums to date in the US, while their previous album has sold 3.3 million. The album was much darker than their first one. 

-Sheryl Crow releases her second album ‘Sheryl Crow’. The album has sold 2.5 million copies in the US and features two top 20 songs, “If It Makes You Happy” (#10) and “Everyday Is a Winding Road” (#11).

-The grunge movement begins as Nirvana release their second album “Nevermind”, the album eventually hits #1, replacing Michael Jackson’s ‘Dangerous’. To date “Nevermind has sold over 10 million copies in the US. Nevermind features the #6 hit song “Smells Like Teen Spirit”.

-The Red Hot Chili Peppers release their most success album ‘Blood Sgar Sex Magik’. The album features the #2 peaking song “Under the Bridge”. The album has sold over 7 million copies in the US.

1988 
-James Brown faces multiple charges, including leading police on an interstate chase after breaking into a seminar at a building he owned while carrying a gun and demanding to know who used his bathroom. Brown had been arrested on d--g charges earlier in the year.

-Diana Ross releases one of her least successful albums “Eaten Alive”. The album has only sold 300,000.
