yeah you're probably right, or like others said, they may be taking Beyoncé's example by lying about how much they did to surprise everyone. Didn't Gaga said that she want all of us to be surprised this time ?

Direction, also can be understood as theme. She could have ten thousand songs, but without good direction, it might not pan out well. Quality over quantity is ideal.

this isn't surprising considering that (1) gagz changes her mind all the time and (2) the creative process is hardly ever straightforward or linear or whatever, it's rather complex. i'm sure she has the core concept or the main idea behind LG5, but polishing and perfecting those visions take time.

Sure, I can see where you're coming from and I agree that a disjointed and non-committal album would be a horrible disappointment. I wasn't saying that having 20 songs with no direction was a good thing, I was just saying that the statement doesn't necessarily indicate a blank slate without any work done.

But, I'd also add that deciding on a direction could mean a lot of things. Perhaps she's found two veins that she's been exploring-- and the options are to go with one, the other, or a blend of both. It could mean instead that she really wants to go in a certain direction, but is waiting for AHS to pan out before she decides 100% on that direction. Or, it could mean she has no idea at all and is lost at sea. I don't think his statement has to imply she has no clue what she's thinking, feeling, doing.

I assume she is hyper-aware of the pivotal nature of LG5 on her career at this juncture. This may cause her to treat her direction differently than before. Only time will tell.

possibly, there were rumors the day before BEYONCE was dropped that the album was scrapped and then we all know what really happened.

I hope there wont be a long wait for the album after the initial announcement. I would love a "single coming tomorrow or next week, album next month" or something

Also, we have to remember that this was an interview with Billboard. Of course Bobby wouldn't just say everything. I think he's just adding to the hype. 

She might already have a direction  I don't think we should beleive everything Bobby says in interviews like these. 

I agree.  I'm thinking that Gaga and her management aren't trying to overhype LG5.  We know how ARTPOP was overhyped and how that turned out.  And to avoid leaks as well.

She probably wants to see how she is received as an actress.  This could mean a lot of things actually.  She'll be seeing what the public wants from her.

I think this makes the most sense...not necessarily doesn't know WHAT she's writing about, but she has written and recorded songs, but depending on if people like or dislike her dark character, this will influence HOW dark she goes for LG5. Overall it will be a dark album. 

I think this is actually smart, because this again shows Gaga is concerned about gaining back the GP's appeal to her that she had in TF-TFM era

I LOVE BOBBY...he's so smart and this reassures me they both know EXACTLY what they're doing with her career and what direction to take things!
