Or wishing for death, those are two different things. It's hypocrisy to say "I'm happy you went to paradise" when you don't even believe such place exists. In article it's said for 9 years, it was incident-free. I just googled a little bit and found out, that the last stampede happened in Mekka on 12th January 2006 with 362 casualties. Too many people at once moving together in a space that isn't designed for that amount of people and without the proper amount of crowd control. Humans don't have the balance and agility of animals that travel in herds. Plus, that many people moving together is like a tidal wave when it hits an obstacle.
