Coulorcraft 170
I have been a fan of Gaga's from the moment Just Dance went #1 on the Itunes Dance Charts. I have to say it has really been a roller coaster watching her perform over the years, and I never imagined the career she has created for herself. Every album cycle has been so different in concept and performance. Musically she has taken risks and has managed to be consistent with the quality of her work. She has everything meticulously mapped out, having this incredible ability to direct the public's perception of who she is as an artist. I think it's safe to say (to fellow monsters) that this woman is clearly a one of a kind legend. I also think a lot of us have this feeling deep down in our gut, that looking back on her career will really "WOW" the world, solidifying herself as one of the greatest performance artists of all time. A true master of fame, and the queen of pop culture. (At least those are my hopes lol) But only time and dedication will tell, but she is off to an incredible start.Gaga has said that ARTPOP was the end of the beginning of her career. You come to ARTPOP where she begins to really unravel as a pop artist, who in her own words was "put into a box" and begins to break free. While ARTPOP may have under performed (debatable) I really think that looking back at her career overall, ARTPOP is really the most pivitol time in her career thus far. If you listen to ARTPOP you have this strange pop record that really goes against what the industry expects from a modern pop artist. She throws in R&B, Trap, EDM, rock, its really a melting pot of who she is as an artist, and could be her way of showing us what we are about to see from her in the future.I know that there is speculation whether or not ARTPOP was meant to fail as an album, but honestly it could have gone either way. I know everyone blames management, and even Gaga herself has said that we were not given the full effect of what ARTPOP should have been, but at the same time, Gaga knows how the public perceives her. She has said that everyone wants to see the decay of the popstar, and see them climb their way back to the top. She also predicted this in her paparazzi video. She has also said that she views her life as a movie, and that she writes the next chapter. I really feel that Gaga knew ARTPOP wouldn't be the smash that the industry expected. She didnt want what troy carter wanted. She didn't want to sell out, so she said no and they split ways. She put out an experimental, non cohesive pop album. She had songs about rape, and heartfelt apology about being on d--gs. The record was all over the place. But at the same time, she is showing us a glimpse of all the different sides of who she is an artist. The ARTPOP video she did with Inez and Vindoodh is a great example of her constant transformations. And honestly if you break it down, ARTPOP has so many different layers to it, which is really why I think its so important. In the trajectory of her career this will be the time where Gaga really begins to change the way we see who this woman is. Following ARTPOP she becomes this critically acclaimed Jazz musician. This ethereal woman of elegance and old hollywood glamour. She begins performance after performance of musical legends, really embodying them as musicians, and showing respect for those who came before her. She is now stepping into a pivotal role, commanding the screen of one of the most well respected television shows of the decade. She has broken free from the box that most pop musicians are in, and is becoming a multi media artists, all the while art directing every aspect of her life and public persona.I also just want to quickly touch on the quote she made "I am every icon." This really is fascinating, because every time she is around an icon she really embodies them as a person, and almost mimics their essence. Example, the classic woman she became, when working tony bennett. The cool rocker chick she becomes on howard stern. You can even see this during the fame perfume launch when she almost becomes this self absorbed b---h who thinks she better than everyone in those interviews. Her mannerisms shift and adjust to whatever role or situation she is. Her outfits also mirror the role she is playing. AND GAH! THE OUTFITS!I realize this has become mostly a rant, but I sometimes feel so lucky to be a fan of Gaga's and appreciate the work she has been able to put out, and I know you feel the same. I also just want to add that I am so happy to be apart of this fan base, because in a weird way I feel connected to all of you. So thanks for reading! FATCAT 60,084
"She put out an experimental, non cohesive pop album."I'm sorry, but ARTPOP is in no way, shape, or form, experimental. Aura is the closest thing to 'experimental' the album is going to get, and its hardly that. ARTPOP flopped commercially because her manager and in turn, all her plans, left. It wasn't planned, it wasn't some elaborate prediction, it was fate taking its course. This kitten over here (meow)

Dangerous Man 9,245
Very well said. I always loved the album. Just wish we had more MVs but the music did not disappoint me. I'm actually still playing it on some occasions especially if I want to feel energetic. "A little less conversation and a little more touch my body." The music itself is definitely legit & fits well in every genre she was aiming for. And I have to disagree about the manager thing. I dont think the only reason that ARTPOP flopped was because of managment. Once again, this was a risky album, the concept was not something any other pop star would have chosen. It was difficult for the public to grasp." A reverse warholian experience." Are you kidding me? The general public is not going to eat the up. The GP has been conditioned to consume music thats like fast food. And like gaga says she's not fast food. She's a delicacy. I dont think of this as a conspiracy or anything, but gaga was prepared for the risk, and management wasnt.

Much better word to describe the album, but it probably was more risky to not have any planned promo after Applause This kitten over here (meow)
