2010
Maroon 5’s 3rd studio album “Hands All Over” is released. It debuts at #2, only selling about 1/4 of their previous first week total. The album was panning out to be a failure but was given a second life with the success of the song “Moves Like Jagger”, which was apart of a rerelease of the album. The lead single of “Hands All Over” was “Misery” and reached a peak of 14 on the Hot 100.

Shontelle’s second album “No Gravity” is released and features the #13 song “Impossible”

Selena Gomez & the Scene release their second studio album “A Year Without Rain” featuring the #24 single “Round & Round”. The album peaks at #4 and eventually sells 810,000 copies.

Raven-Symone releases her 3rd studio album (really her first major release, she was little when she released her first two) “This Is My Time”. While Raven was a successful Disney actor at the time, her album failed to meet the success of Hilary Duff’s or even the Cheetah Girls soundtrack, or even her TV show soundtrack. Her album reached #51 on the the Billboard 200 and did not spawn any chartable hits. The album has sold 235,000 copies.

Meg White marries Jack Gillis. Gillis takes her last name and becomes Jack White. One year later they form The White Stripes. 

1993
Nirvana releases their third and final album “In Utero", which was a drastic departure from the previous album “Nevermind”, the album that made Nirvana famous. The album went #1 and has sold 5 million copies in the U.S.

Melissa Etheridge releases her most successful album to date, “Yes I Am” featuring the songs “I’m the Only One” and “Come to My Window”. The album has sold over 6 million copies in the US

The first compact disc manufacturer opens in North America, making it possible to make CDs less expensive in the US because we no longer have to import them. Bruce Springsteen’s “Born in the USA” is chosen as the first CD to ever be made in the US
