i dont think its the same... marriage has been around for a very long time with generally the same ideal and for many people has a deep spiritual connection also... this has been the case for a very long, long time... The concept of "marriage" was not created with the idea of two ppl of the same s-x together

all of a sudden people wanna change that concept and what it can accept... i can understand the point of view of religious people who have long held marriage with a belief not liking that

im not saying i agree with that belief, im not saying America should go back... but im saying i understand the point of view and allowance of civil unions that give full legal rights is actually extremely accomodating from a conservatives standpoint i think

U have to take in mind... Liberals see things new way... but just as conservatives shouldnt force their views on others, liberals too can be pushy sometimes... I see it all the time... Because i like to be unbiased and taking a step back, i see the same thing from both sides, just on opposite spectrums tbh

I certainly won't begrudge her having an opinion or belief. But if we're talking about voting, I have to know that a person supports equality in all ways. I was raised conservative. I worked on GOP campaigns. I understand their politics and do not dismiss many of their ideals. That being said, their support base is shrinking year after year. As of now I'm an independent, because both parties have specifically been disappointing in their own way.

I hope Carly is able to break away from some of the misinformed stances that the GOP base seems determined to sit in. The party has a lot to offer that is wasted when its mixed with big-money influence and bigotry.

Economy

The "Same-s-x marriage is a new phenomenon!" thing is such bull****. Ancient Athens had same-s-x marriage. Ancient Mesopotamia had same-s-x marriage.  Several Native American tribes had same-s-x marriage, and viewed it as sacred. Was it as common as opposite-s-x marriage? No, but to say it didn't exist and is something completely new to us is ignorant and inaccurate.

Exactly, and she's not making a big thing about the same-s-x marriage thing. She's not on the side of Kim Davis. She's not a religious zealot, and I think that's why most people like her. Far more moderate on social issues.

i didnt say it didnt exist... i said the ideal of marriage and its origin has been around a very long time... and a few exeptions from some cultultures doesnt change what the concept originally was

i frankly dont have an exact opinion on this issue... im gay myself but i can comprehend their point of view

and since it had a religious beggining... do i really wanna copy the concept anyway? thats what marriage was. personally id be totally fine with some other name. calling it "marriage" or "civil union" if it has the same rights then its just a technicality. If it makes some people more confortable, i dont think its a big sacrafice to make

however the supreme court has legalized it and even if they didnt, the federal government in the states seems to have little to do with marriage anyways so that wouldnt decide my vote

i really vote more on economy. Actually here in Canada all 3 dominating parties are liberal on social issues... even our right winged government on economy is liberal on everything else which is why they are called "progressive conservatives". So here in Canada economy is basically all you vote for really so its what im used to

but yeah i dont think Carlys social stances are hardcore enough to make much of a difference on America. She seems more concerned with the economy and National Security than personal views on social issues so i doubt shed spend much time on those things anyway :coffee:

i think she is in support of equality in all ways. She specifically said its not the Governments job to discriminate and that homos-xuals should be given full rights... but at the same time, religious traditions should be respected, and marriage did start out as a religious tradition and spiritual connection between ppl of opposite s-x and thats how it was instituted...

While im gay myself... i can totally understand some ppl not liking that belief being intruded on and personally... if u wanna give me full rights in a civil union which for all intensive purposes gives you the EXACT same rights its just called something else, i think thats a very miniscule sacrafice to make tbh. If i cant do that, than as a social liberal it shows im not willing to compromise at all period and thats not right either

however since its been legalized by supreme court, i think the definition and ideal has already been tampered with and as a result, makes no sense to go back

honestly its one of those things i understand both sides of the argument fully. its hard for me to take a specific stance on it actually :duck:

Back on Carly though... She talks more about this stuff when asked... But she seems way more concerned with the economy and National security... Personal views on social issues dont seem to be her focus anyway

When it really comes down to it I think it'll be Carly vs. Hilary. I mean think about it - the women vote is split, things are equaled out and they both have pretty amazing track records. I personally would be fine with either. Honestly I'm split which way I'd vote.

And when it comes to Bernie - I'm not touching him with a ten foot pole. His background is flawless and his policy proposals sound great but where the flippity flip is all of the funding coming from? One man cannot change that much...looks at President Obama.

what funding? like donations? i saw mostly unions

OT: and if fiorina wins i wouldnt be surprised if trump runs independent even though he did that pledge crap which means nothing to him really. he will split the vote and its a walk in for hilary simply because carly hasnt treated him very nicely

I disapprove of what you say, but will defend to the death your right to say it.

I meant funding for his policies - free tuition being the first big one that comes to mind. Sorry I wasn't very clear - it was late
