She's talking about Britney, she's the obe in Vegas & she's the only one that doesn't look happy & looks lost all of the time, since her meltdown i can tell she enjoys her family & seems uncomfortable with fans/tv, etc

I am... I have never heard her on the radio or even heard one of her songs anywhere and I've never heard a single person mention her outside of internet articles related to her commenting on current pop stars.

Based on that it always seemed like she was an obscure artist.  Original perhaps but never huge and at the top of pop culture.

I could be wrong but why does basically no one know about her?

You not knowing about her doesn't mean no one knows about her. Big difference.

Yes, I think you're right. Especially on the re-read. Britney is the Doris.

I do and I am a huge fan of her and she is constantly mentioned in a lot of articles and playlists about the 80s and she is like, an icon of good proportions I would say :duck: I see why you would think she is known for talking **** about other pop stars tho. But saying no one knows her is a stretch :flop:

Yes I think I was being overmuch about nobody knowing her.  And I can see that I would have missed the main discussion around her from her initial output

I think I see her commenting on the major famous icons and I just feel that widespread enduring fame is not something she has achieved so I don't see her on that level based just on fame.

But based on artistry itself I have no room to talk.

I never normally get into such detail about opinions and things :flop:

imagie a person that never realy matteed,  but went to the right parties enough to get her name about, and was a benchmark for looking odd. Imagine that person, 40 years later, has had way too many d--gs and is so out of it she thinks she was important enough to be an inspiration when all she ever was, was a rich man's joke.

That is a good imagination you have.

I feel like she's not in the public consciousness.  Talented and influential to fellow artists but uncredited by the public it seems.

She was most successful commercially in the 80's so she may not be in the public consciousness any more. She was a famous model. She had huge sucess in film, she was a Bond girl. She had big disco hits when disco was on it's last leg. She may never have been an international superstar on the same scale as Gaga or Madonna, but her cultural impact is undeniable.

People are writing off her achievements because they don't like her tone, which is understandable, she sounds a little full of herself.

She needs to get her ego in check. I mean... Claiming that all these stars copied directly from her and made a fortune from it? Her ego is waaaay to big. Sure she's great but... Come back to earth please Grace.

You're forgiven cause I do think she needs more fame tbh. She deserved to be on the same level that Madonna and Cyndi Lauper are (inb4 someone quotes me saying that Cyndi is irrelevant byeeee)

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

Cyndi Lauper is incredible.

(I just want to counter act the inevitable 'Cyndi is irrelevant' responses.)

There's some truth and a lot of bitterness to everything she said...if Doris is really Gaga, it's an unfair portrait of her, definitely.

It seems to me that Doris (whoever Doris is), as described by Grace, is not really what Doris is, but what Grace needs Doris to be in order for Grace to feel good about herself...?Like, how can you know that someone you've only exchanged a couple of words is "lost", if it's not your brain twisting things for you to feel comfortable?

ATTENTION: (bad) jokes and sarcasm are still a thing, so don't take everything I say literally. Thank you.

Bette Davis

I find it so strange when catty artists get so upset and angry when other people draw influence from them. Do you not want to be influential and do you really hate it when people pay homage to you? Would you rather be forgotten and uninspiring?.. Okay whatever you say Grace.

I'm also looking at you Ms. Madonna.

Cold as ice cream, but still as sweet.

Shes acting as if she's the pope and all pop stars who dress in avant-garde fashion or have taken influence from her should bow and kiss her ring to pay homage. Has she impacted pop culture in a major way? Yes. Does she deserve respect? Yes. But acting as if you're the only person in the world with artistic integrity is extremely presumptuous and pompous. :bye:
