But :rip:@ you considering your opinions facts

They were not opinions, I gave you a list of music videos that came before Bad Romance that set the standard and are credited for doing so.

How can any of us do that  :emma: There's plenty of amazing pop artists and it's a disrespect to them and to Gaga (Madonna too :green: ) to assume otherwise with the arrogance and ignorance on behalf of many fans of other genres. We're fans of the music, not business people with commercial interest in what pop radio does.

There's plenty of amazing and timeless rock music too, as well as repetitive, uneventful dirge too in the genre

Not a simple pop star.

A talented pop star that hasn't contributed anything new to music.

why does it seem to be your mission in life to ensure that Gaga is seen as nothing special?  It's like a crusade.

1. Who says he's wasting his time? You? That's too subjective to bring up as an argument.

2. He didn't say she had zero artistic/cultural impact. He actually said she had temporary impact on a large scale though it didn't set new rules or standards for the next generation(s) of performers, except her example of social media use which he named. That's not even negative, it's quite objective and since the only examples people can bring up in this thread are other celebrities using "weird" looks (for a while) I'd say it's at least right until proven wrong with good arguments which everyone seems to be avoiding, preferring personal attacks instead.

3. There's a huge misunderstanding (also about me) that stripping Gaga of imagined trophies equals wanting to downgrade her. While I agree that in some cases it's stupid to rain on people's parades when they like to think Gaga is the only pop star worth looking at today (which is not the case), when it's backed up with neutral arguments the real problem is the people who identify that style of argumentation (usually referring to verifiable facts instead of personal opinion) with negativity.

4. A forum has only one goal: discussing. So even if he absolutely hated Gaga, if he presented his opinion in a way that inspires civil discussion, it would be within the posting rules and he would have every right to be here. In this case, he doesn't hate Gaga, so these forum-related comments make their authors look like fools. This is not a fan site. You might want to read the posting rules again: negative opinions are allowed under the circumstances Jjang lives up to.

1. I just said it was my opinion. People can do what they want, I just said that I couldn't understand it. I even said "excuse me" for that.

2. Jjan's reply to me:

Not a simple pop star.

A talented pop star that hasn't contributed anything new to music.

3. And 4. I never said Gaga is the only worthy popstar. I am going to Madonna's next tour and I buy lots of albums from other popstar's (Ariana Grande, Lorde, Beyonce, Madonna, Britney, Katy, Kylie, Florence... and a long etc. I have their albums), but yeah, for me Gaga is the best. Do I have to be sorry for that? And to end, I never said that they can't or shouldn't be here, I just say that I wouldn't expend time on a forum of someone who (imo) hasn't had any impact or anything relevant to stand up for. More when I think other artists have and they have their own forums. But hey, that's just my opinion and how I view it.

Is being talented somehow not special? why does it seem to be your mission in life to create the illusion that Gaga is the one to credit for all the things that artists have done before her?

You all need to chill, everyone has different opinions and we should respect that.

We all know that certain people believe that Madonna invented pop music, gave birth to Jesus and was the first woman to have s-x. So let's move on and ignore that kind of discussions that end with arguments like "without Madonna there would be no Gaga".

And why would it have to be MY job to fix what's wrong with OTHER people? It's not my fault their obnoxious egos and ignorance keep them from respecting the many amazing pop acts we have currently.

As previously mentioned, Gaga was smart and innovative for using social media as her friend for self promotion. Did she impact music, though? nope. And I will continue arguing about that until you face your falsity.

the vast majority of pop is watered down crap from other genres. It doesn't have to be that way but pop fans seem largely incapable of recognizing the difference between quality and schlock.

Meaning you refuse to believe anything presented to you because you don't want your imaginary list of Gaga achievements to be debunked. Sure, I respect your honesty.
