BLACKOUTbritney 22,361
LOLAre you kidding me? Michael and Madonna are equally legendary. It's just that Michael is dead so his legacy is celebrated more than Madonna's. Besides, Madonna never self-destructed like Michael and overall Madonna has shown a lot more versatility both visually and musically. You wouldn't be on this website today if Madonna never was around. She's the blueprint for a successful career in pop music. Couldn't agree more!! If you dont think that Madonna is a living legend then you should take a music history course. And I say that as someone who is learning about her in my college music history course. I love how the users saying she isn't legendary are just ignoring these 2 posts because they carry too much truth
Jesse Pinkman 4,660
I'd love to hear about what they teach there tbh. Its an American History Class. We learn about how American music has developed since the late 1700s to the 90s I think, so of course we're gonna learn about Madonna at some point. I'm doing a presentaion about her when we get to that decade. Last semester I did one about Gaga for my speech class, and my first Madonna presentation was in my Senior year of high school It's science, bitch

But its still cool because we learn the basic formats of how American music is made, including pop music. It's science, bitch

jojuun 4,159
Then whenever you here icons talking about their inspiration you never hear Madonna, you always hear Michael LOL BITCH BYE LITERALLY FROM GAGA'S OFFICIAL BIOGRAPHY FROM HER WEBSITE IN 2008:"...Lady Gaga Lists Michael Jackson, Madonna, Queen and David Bowie as her main influences but her work also recalls elements of her New York upbringing." And of course there's tons and tons of vid's on YouTube of other artists praising her: You tried tho.

GloZell Green 11,723
Michael Jackson had some critically panned albums too. Floppy sales too. Besides Rebel Heart IS acclaimed, it has a Metacritic score of 68, which indicates "generally favorable reviews". Both the BIM song and video are meant to be ironic, light-hearted fun. Don't you think a woman who went on to make over a billion dollars in her life is smart enough to micromanage her image? Madonna KNOWS it'll get hated on, that's the point. She's always done that. They called her "over" since the beginning. Her career was DEAD according to the press and public perception in 1993 because of the SEX book and Erotica album. 7 years later she became the most successful female artist of all time. In 2008 she became the top grossing female AND solo act of all time. Her touring power in undebatable. She's a force.Madonna knows what she's doing. She saw the shift in the music industry coming in 2007 with her Live Nation deal. She knew sales for music were over. So she inked a mega-touring deal. She'll continue if SHE wants or switch it up if she wants. Live Nation wouldn't be stupid enough to let her go, she made them millions and millions.Y'all can keep trying, reaching and pushing but the facts speak for themselves.Madonna is THE most successful female in music. Try again. I at no point insulted her or tried to bring her down. Grow the **** up and stop trying to act like you're always right if you actually read my whole response and didn't just get set off by the first sentence, you'd know that I said it isn't being critically acclaimed because many websites, like Forbes, Idolator, etc. haven't responded favorably to the album. I never said I hated the album, I actually love it. The truth is that if I asked someone if they knew about her most recent album release, they would say no because I myself haven't seen promotion and radio play. if you go on BIM video most people are negatively criticizing her for her age, which is wrong. And I never said she was over, stop adding words to my mouth thank you Lady Gaga | Shakira
Harry 26,836
It's kind of hard to believe that anyone who actually knows anything about popular music would try and downplay Madonna's legacy/impact and position in the industry... Love her or hate her.
JusKeepBreathin 19,311
Chances are Madonna will sign with a regular record company and Live Nation for touring. I feel like she will sign with Jay-Z's Roc Nation and the whole Tidal thing was to sweeten the deal. Live nation no longer signs 360 deals. They really got in over their head with the record company side of the business.
