1. The link is that excessive fear of pedophilia often has a disproportionate impact on men (people prefer female babysitters etc), while some s-x negative radical feminist spend 95% of their discussion of s-xual topics practically demonizing male s-xuality as something awful that rapes and harasses and degrades women.

Sure, this is in minority view among real-world feminists, but troublingly common in feminist literature. Also nothing to do with my mom's version of feminism, who was raised by parents with Victorian anti-s-x attitudes and came to see those as a negative thing.

The s-x negative thing is in greater danger of going to harmful extremes in US than UK, because of their puritan heritage and the power of religious fundies (who can easily co-op the s-x-negative side of feminism for their own agenda).

2. That works fine most of the time - long as everyone is reasonable, sensible, with social skills and empathy.  Just remember for every socially obtuse lout who is unreasonably persistent, their is likely some shy person, who can't be 100% sure when they flirt that the person is willing. and worries that minimal advances will be seen as harassing and treated rudely..

But that's s-xism that affects men, which is a topic for another day. And a lot of s-xism that affects women has a knock on effect on men and vice versa. For example, a child in public assumed to have lost their parent because they aren't with a mother. This is s-xist towards women by assuming that women are the only natural caregivers and shoulder all the burden of childcare, but it's also s-xist towards men because it assumes that men don't make competant parents and don't want to look after their child. By eliminating s-xism towards women, we can simultaneously end s-xism towards men too because s-xism always affects the other gender in unison.

I don't like to refer to these radical extremists as feminists, as by attaching this word to them, it makes them out to be some form of feminist, albeit a crazy one, when in reality, they're just nuts and no one should support them.

Really, I don't think these ideals could work better in the UK than US. The same legal definitions exist on both sides of the pond. Yes, I know that America can be a very religious country but I think it's equally as open minded as it can be close minded. America is always viewed as somewhere that anything goes, even here. Their s-x industries are a lot more extreme and widespread. Then there's the music and movies that are produced there. I've never thought of America as an overly religious country for these reasons. i've always seen it as paving the way of s-x-positive thinking, frankly. Not every believer there adheres strictly to their beliefs, after all. Plenty of Republican voters don't actually live conservative lives. I actually saw this is a feminist book: "The values people vote for are not necessarily the same values they live by - nowhere is this statement more true than the Bible Belt."

Trust me, a shy guy will at most be seem as awkward by women. And I'd rather one of them than an arrogant no-gooder. We know when a man is trying but doesn't really have much game and we'll just try to sidle off with an excuse. We don't feel threatened, just a bit awkward.  Women tend not to be bothered by shy men, just arrogant and creepy ones. A lot of women even find shy men to be sweet and are more drawn to them. I know I am, because you know they'll treat you right, especially when it comes to getting intimate. If only they would come on to me. ;) The only attention I get from men are the ones you wouldn't want to meet down a dark alley.
