Let ARTPOP die in peace.

it will and shall never die. take a look at this year's vmas, you can clearly see its impact. not to mention the failed attempt of tidal members. :hunty:

Off the top of my head, I can't name one about rape but your assumption that dance music hasn't got serious or darker topics in it, simply is no where near true.

I know EDM can be dark. But is not very common. Even saying that, the fact that no one has an EDM rape song, means Gaga was experimenting and trying something new.

So you don't find Aura experimental? You don't find EDM songs about rape experimental? You don't find intricate pop structures like Venus experimental? ect.

aura is the only thing that comes close to experimental in artpo[

but it was watered down for radio

swine is a generic edm song nothing experimental about it

and venus is a radio friendly bop

its not experimental

It wasn't "watered down", it was just made more pop rather than mostly experimental artistic pop (once again, ARTPOP). And for the other two songs you only talked about the sound themselves and not about the actual details I pointed out.

1) Gaga has had the same influences since her first album, I'm not sure why you're making a distinction with the last two albums when The Fame is actually the one with the most prevalent Bowie influence.

2) Those artists/bands pushed the boundaries of popular music decades ago, you can't give Gaga credit for that or call her music experimental or innovative when she's emulating sounds and ideas that are decades old to a less complex degree. Zappa was experimental in the 60's, he took pop and rock down entirely undiscovered roads with his album Freak Out, and he's influenced countless popular artists since then, none of whom are experimental because they didn't do it first, it's been done before many times.

Since when does experimental mean. I did it first and how can I be giving credit to Gaga for doing it first when I said ARTPOP took cues from them. In basically all my arguments I've said she didn't do it first, it's been done many times and will be done again. It's doesn't mean she didn't do it. Which is the arguement I am making. Thank you for agreeing with me.

This is just my opinion. And I am standing by it.

Sure, the entire forum knows your opinion on ARTPOP by now so I don't see the need for all eighty threads per week. Your explanations (and the threads themselves) however suggest you're not actually very confident in the validity of your opinion.

It's actually pretty common? There's so many dance songs fuelled by hate.

Just because I don't know one about rape off the top of my head doesn't mean there isn't one though? You need to ask someone who's really, really into their dance music and not just a casual listener (or clubber, I suppose :emma:) like me.

Aura is experimental by any standards too. I mean is a complextro/pop song with middle eastern guitars, were the topics range from s-x to identity to freedom

I think you'd enjoy M.I.A.'s discog

If your implying that MIA the one that is experimental, then that only proves why Aura is experimental too.

But we are just digging deep here. That fact that we can think of a song quite like Swine, proves Gaga was being experimental.

The definiton of experimental music is music that is radically new from a compositional standpoint, of which the result is unforseen. Music that emulates and rehashes existing ideas is antithetical to experimentation. "I did it first" is exactly what it means

yes... these songs go hand in hand with Shake It Off, Dear Future Husband and I Really Really like you. The argument sounds legit.

Again we are having this argument between the difference of Experimental music and experimental pop which has 2 different definitions. No one is saying she is creating experimental music. At least I haven't said that. She is creating experimental artistic POP.

Swine is a diss track first and foremost. One would have not known it is about rape if Gaga herself didn't say so. Diss tracks were a thing already from the stone age. Regardless, a song (from any genre) about rape is not experimental. Madonna sang about wanting to kill her ex husband because he stole her money, that topic was not explored before, does that make MDNA experimental?
