SlaeUrAnus 15,976
Do you want the controversial music videos, statements, outfits etc. for LG5? Or would you prefer something more GP friendly like a Cheek to Cheek era, friendly performances like the Oscars? I would imagine this 'Art of Darkness' would be controversial (I hope it is) because I live for Gaga's controversies! Gimme those Alejandro blasphemy accusations that I love! Or why can't we have both? In my messy era.

nativenewyorker 1,190
Honestly, I just want something universally relatable from her. The singles from The Fame, The Fame Monster, and Born This Way were perfect because they were creative, controversial, yet still were accessible because they were about common messages like love, s-x, drinking..etc. With the exception of Paparazzi, Alejandro, and Judas, Gaga's singles were clever pop songs about everyday topics. Just Dance, Poker Face, Bad Romance, Telephone, Born This Way, The Edge of Glory all had this relatable quality that was lost with ARTPOP, I think. Hardly anyone can relate to Applause or Do What U Want (DWUW was better than Applause though because it's real message is hidden with the s-xual theme.) because they're about topics so close to Gaga that none of us regular people have to worry about. The GP doesn't live to entertain other people or have to worry about the media tearing them down. Applause and Do What U Want are obviously still great pop songs and people can clearly still relate to them, it's just harder and alienates many people along the way. So if Gaga can bring back the accessibility without compromising her creativity and artistic vision, I'll be happy.
Brooke Hoegan 1,018
If it has to be controversial just for the sake of it (like the meat dress) I'll really passBut if backed up with actual smart meaning, then I'm on board

OT: if gagz will be back in full force, controversies are guaranteed due to her visions being insane. i'd say we should focus on what we don't need: artistic compromises for the sake of her public perception. bring it on, gagz! if you hurt taylor swift, i'll hurt you back

I was there since she's been on Ellen with this... And I'm sorry, but if after those 5 years you still believe the explanation of the meat dress wasn't just a "quickie" made by her to get away with it after controversy had arisen... I'll just leave it at that...

Aren't we talking about a woman who admits to telling a lie over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again until it finally becomes truth ?So I would rethink that one about knowing her...I'm not saying she's ingenuine or that the meat dress wasn't a way to grab attention to her goal of the night (gay soldiers being discharged for being gay) but the meaning of the meat dress per se didn't have to do anything with it. Unless we allow her to give it any meaning she can come up with and treat it as legit enough. The awkward face she did while literally reciting that explanation on Ellen says it all.
