Was "Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz" Miley's attempt at ARTPOP?

Not sure if it's okay to bump this thread but I don't want to make a new one when there is an existing thread

Plus I wasn't a member yet when this discussion happened

I kinda went back on Dead Petz, it aged pretty well. I agree with the OP, it is much more experimental, raw and psychedelic compared to ARTPOP (not to discount my appreciation for ARTPOP). I actually think Miley's decision and direction was very bold and outshone ARTPOP in many aspects. I do think Gaga inspired Miley to take this route though.

Should've made a new one.

A few songs from Dead Petz is actually what made me a fan of Miley. I think it was a very cool, different album to give to her fans.  She literally gave it for free which was putting her money where her mouth is.   I enjoyed it.

As for ARTPOP, I hate comparing things to ARTPOP.  It is its own beast and holds a special place in my ears, heart and mind.
