This past week has been a great time for Carrie fans as she released her new single and music video "Smoke Break" from her upcoming album "Storyteller" out October 23rd.

For those who don't really know Carrie, here's a rundown of her career... "Carrie Underwood emerged from the promise of her 2005 American Idol win to become a true multi-format, multi-media superstar, spanning achievements in music, television, and film.  A seven-time GRAMMY® Award winner, she has amassed nearly 100 major honors, sold more than 56 million records worldwide, and recorded 21 #1 singles, 11 of which she co-wrote.  The first female artist to be twice named the Academy of Country Music’s Entertainer of the Year, Underwood was recognized as Pollstar’s top female country touring artist for her headlining tours in 2008, 2010, and 2012.  Her four studio albums, Some Hearts, Carnival Ride, Play On, and Blown Away – each certified multi-Platinum or Platinum, and each an American Music Awards winner as Country Album of the Year – tallied 38 weeks at #1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart with songs that have been streamed more than 1.4 billion times worldwide.  In 2013, she starred as Maria von Trapp in NBC’s three-hour holiday blockbuster, the Emmy®-winning The Sound of Music Live!, whose airings attracted 44 million viewers.  In late 2014, the Grand Ole Opry member released her first hits collection, Greatest Hits: Decade #1.  Celebrating her first 10 years of music, the 25 songs included two new hits co-written by Underwood: the Platinum-certified, GRAMMY-winning “Something in the Water,” as well as the #1 smash “Little Toy Guns.”  In September of 2015, she begins her third season as the voice of primetime television’s #1 program, Sunday Night Football, and on November 4, she’ll return for an eighth consecutive year as co-host of the CMA Awards.  Underwood is at radio now with her record-breaking single “Smoke Break,” the first single released from her fifth studio album, Storyteller, out worldwide on October 23, 2015."

There's speculation that the song you hear right in the beginning is "Runaway Renegade".  A song that could possibly be on the new album.  She also uses the same diner as used in Gaga's "Telephone" video.

I'm a huge Carrie fan, and I know there's a good number of fellow fans here on GagaDaily.  What do you all think of Carrie's new direction in music?  Any expectations for the Storyteller era?

Does this woman ever stop?:awkney: i feel like she never takes a break. I like the new song I guess. The album cover is sort of basic. Don't know how to feel about it or her :reductive2:

Well she had a minor break this past year because of her pregnancy, but she definitely keeps busy. :gaga:

I love Carrie.

I saw her live on the Play On Tour and it was amazing. I also love her new single.

I do appreciate that she sticks to her country roots despite her obvious appeal to pop listeners.

Hmmm..? I see that you're a fan of Taylor, as am I, and doesn't she release a new album every two years? And in between those releases, she's releasing singles and touring, so there's not really a break.

i see what you mean, but it's like she had blown away and then her greatest hits album felt like it came soon and this feels like it came even sooner than that. Like I said, maybe it's cos I don't follow her and she's always on country radio

Blown Away came out three years ago, in 2012. The greatest hits album was to celebrate her 10 years in the music industry, so not a real album, and her new album is coming out in October.

So realistically, she released an album in 2012 and in 2015.

Compare that to Taylor who released Red in 2012 and 1989 in 2014.

So in reality, they are sort of on the same path. Not trying to argue with you at all, I just didn't understand where you were coming from.

well the greatest hits album had 2 singles and something in the water was everywhere for a while, like everywhere lol. And you're okay, I just really feel like she's been constantly releasing stuff. Which isn't bad, I just get annoyed with her easy :laughga:

I believe they released the GH album after her pregnancy announcement.  Her team had to push back album #5 I think.  Tbh though, there are people who release more often than Carrie.  I think it's just that Carrie has achieved a fairly consistent and successful career.  That's why you hear about her all the time.  I'm not complaining though. lol

Ugh I love her and I can't wait for this album! She really hasn't released a "bad" song, nonetheless as a single. And she keeps on slaying, especially in the country realm. She looks great on the cover! I like it much more than the BA cover. This one is very Carrie-like and I feel like with this album she's going the more country route instead of country-pop.
