And my my precious Ville Valo (of HIM  ) is not there too..! I know they are not that popular but come on, Venus Doom is a mastepiece!

And Bjork is only at 81? :coffee: Bi*ch, go listen to Homogenic. :coffee:

Rolling Stone gave 3/5 stars for Venus Doom. :neyde:

the review

As doom merchants go, HIM are pretty easy to take. On their sixth album, the long-running Finnish quintet tops Black Sabbath riffs and grinding, tightly wound grooves with Ville Valo抯 lovesick crooning, all of which adds up to a dark, s-xy sound the band once dubbed "love metal". Valo keeps his bleeding heart on his sleeve, yowling about dead lovers and dropping creepy poetry like the title track抯 gothed-out lament: "Watch me fall for you my Venus doom/Hide my heart/Where all dreams are entombed". Thankfully, Valo also keeps it pretty songful, coming up with big, decently engaging tunes on cuts like the suavely sung "The Kiss of Dawn" and "Bleed Well", which sports an eerie, catchy chorus that Queens of the Stone Age would love to have written. The melodies tend toward the lush, while underneath, Valo抯 bandmates rock with fury and efficiency, ensuring that all the heartbroken laments are badass enough for hardcore metalheads. Not a bad trick.

WHAT?!

i'm so pissed right now, too much injustice in this world.

They say it's the last song. They don't know us, you see. It's only the last song if we let it be.

Eminem is a good song writer.Even if sometimes his raps are a bit crass i dont think he ever means it. like he explained with his gaga lyrics. madonna is an icon and everything but her songwriting is that great. gaga should definitely be on here.

Pieces like these are always so subjective a lot of times. There's a good bit of truth to this list but a few things are kinda screwed up. Like why Gaga isn't in here when she just got an award, and why Billie Joe Armstrong ranks so low and Madonna so high.

A lot of these lists don't seem to be clear on what they're looking at and how much of it they are looking at cuz some of these writers are much stronger with lyrics than with melodies and vice versa or are better producers.

AND where the hell was Freddie Mercury???? Like, Madonna's great but there are so many better songwriters than her (like Freddie).

She wrote 2 of one of the most critically acclaimed pop albums of all time. She deserves it.

Caesium

The Queen of Music (it's a fact. Look it the f*ck up) does not appreciate her snub from this list. RS is thus dubbed an irrelevant magazine. All credibility lost.

Congratulations Kurt Cobain!!!!!!  :applause:  :legend:

While I'm upset that Gaga didn't make the list, we must congratulate Bjork, Taylor Swift, Prince and Madonna for making the list.

I don't care what you think about unless it is about me.

Seems ok. Maybe a couple missing and some are surprisingly high.

I however don't find it so shocking that Gaga isn't there... Im sorry and this is not hate, but most of her writing is simple melodies using jumps in fifths, basic four chord harmonies etc. ALL combined with quite afwul lyrics a four year old can write. (Ofcourse not all, but you know, rarara, ugauga ,judadadadada popopo blaah Garden panties...)

Im sure she will most Def improve and we will find her on that list later :)

(Btw, as was said earlier, The icon award was not for brilliant songwriting itself but for making it to iconic as a writer....)

:worship:

I'm happy to see Björk on the list but she should be higher.

Kate Bush & Joanna Newsom deserved to be there too.
