Native Americans have their share of problems, but in general they are not discriminated against in the same way that black people are. Not to say that they go through less or more, but they have different issues. The #blacklivesmatter movement has to do with police brutality towards African Americans, which is completely irrelevant to the struggles Native Americans go through.

http://mic.com/articles/109894/the-police-are-killing-one-group-at-a-staggering-rate-and-nobody-is-talking-about-it

"There are 5.1 million American Indians and Alaska Natives in the U.S. as of 2011, significantly fewer than the country's 45 million black Americans (as of 2013). But like black Americans, indigenous people are killed by law enforcement officers at rates that far outstrip their share of the population."

All they said was that blacks are targeted at a high rate.... which is true. Then you posted about Natives and it sounded like you were making it a competition. I know you're just passionate about these issues but I just wanted to point out how it looked from my perspective. Awareness is important though and I'm glad you're interested in social issues outside of your country. Not many people care to look into these type of things :)

it sounded to me that they tried to make it a compition and i just wanted to point out that there ethnic groups who suffer the same but don't have a voice

Dude. No. Do your ****ing research.

Native American issues are off topic but I will correct someone if I see them spreading bs like this. Police violence is an extremely important issue for Native Americans and they suffer more from it than African Americans as was reported years ago, supported by actual studies.

I'm perfectly aware of the fact that Native Americans are disproportionately affected by police brutality by a long haul. Maybe I didn't word it the most eloquently, but what i was trying to say is that the #blacklivesmatter movement is about police brutality against African Americans, who are the group most disproportionately affected by police brutality, and I felt like the claim "Native Americans are the most discriminated group" sidetracked, belittled and derailed from the current issue being discussed. I'm not trying to downplay what Native Americans go through at all, in fact I think it's an extremely important issue. I've visited a few Native American preserves and was horrified, depressed and saddened by their living conditions. Hopefully the next movement is towards improving the safety, opportunity, and quality of life for Native Americans.

Cold as ice cream, but still as sweet.

Still wrong.

I get what you're trying to say, but that's just what you get when you defend events like this by saying that the black community suffers like no other.

I am fully aware of the struggle of Native Americans in this country. It is sad and unfortunate. But there are 5 million Native Americans versus 40 million Black People. So of course statistically speaking, Native Americans are going to have a higher percentage of police brutality. But yes, there is a serious issue with the Native American community as well as the Black community. And I experience It on a daily basis because I am a black man so I know first hand what I'm talking about. And trust me it isnt easy at all.

It's science, bitch

Okay, well if that's how you see and interpret it then we are done here.

lmao that makes no sense

I'm not at all passing off Native American struggles. I only posted what I did because I don't like people putting down the struggles of others (even though I misinterpreted it - BETTEDAVIS himself expressed poor wording).

I didn't, but it's too easy to interpret it like that, so I don't see why anyone should be surprised people will fight back and refer to other racial issues that have to do with police violence. It is not in any way a unique black issue. That doesn't mean I oppose the #BlackLivesMatter movement, but when I see members on this site posting that police violence is a black issue (not you, but there was the implication and other members just literally post it like that) I will stand up and represent others' struggles, yes.

What I mean is that comparing a smaller population to a larger population will result in higher percantages for the smaller population. It's kind of an unfair comparison. We shouldn't be comparing our struggles regardless.

I actually agree with everything you said here and I'm glad you aren't afraid to stand up for and represent the struggles of others

So because they are less people shouldn't care about them? :flop:

American Indian women are 10 times as likely to be murdered than other Americans. They are raped or s-xually assaulted at a rate four times the national average, with more than one in three having either been raped or experienced an attempted rape.

But let's not care about it.

No one said that people shouldn't care about them or other minorities. The truth is that there are twenty times more black people living in the US than Native Americans and even a higher percentage, when you look at who is coming in contact with police officers and the court system everyday. Due to this particular minority having a large percentage of encounters with legal authorities and the judicial system and the fact that there is strength in numbers, they are speaking up for their cause and being heard at this time.

They have the attention and the momentum, at this moment in time.  If they can continue to get others on their side, the movement could end up causing a change in the way police treat citizens...all citizens, including Native Americans!

These people want me not to support them by being rude and over aggressive. The cops would say, "See. I told you so. These are the kinds of people they have to deal with everyday."

That doesn't give the police a right to shoot and kill them. That's the point. A bad attitude shouldn't get you killed.

By the way, white people can be rude, loud or disrespectful too. Just look at Donald Trump! Lol

I was just correcting someone :flop:  You are putting words in mouth. Of course it's not a competition. I wish there would be more awareness though.

Then start a thread about the discrimination in that particular minority group, instead of bringing an off topic discussion into another thread. Morphine is right, it isn't a "Discrimination Contest".

Where the heck did I make it a contest? :duck: Can't you bring others suffering up without getting the card that I want to make it a competition. I made threads about Native Americans but people just don't care.

I understood the posts that I quoted that they think that African Americans are the most discriminated group which I wanted to correct. Sorry if I misunderstood.
