Morphine Prince 109,682
A Jeb Bush town hall Wednesday ended on a testy note, as Black Lives Matter protesters clashed with the presidential candidates' supporters after he faced a series of challenging questions.Bush, responding to a woman's query about the disproportionate number of minorities killed by police and their treatment in the criminal justice system, said there was no question that racism still existed in the United States and that leaders needed to engage in communities that felt disenfranchised. He then turned to his education record as Florida's governor, raising achievement scores among minority youth.“I have a record of empowering people in communities that” were told “they had no chance,” Bush said, ending the town hall. He did not deliver a closing statement, as he typically does, and quickly made his way to an exit, greeting supporters along the way.Behind him, a few dozen protesters raised their fists and began chanting “Black Lives Matter!” A handful of Bush supporters turned toward them and chanted “All Lives Matter!” and “White Lives Matter!” Two women -- a protester and a Bush supporter ¿ stood a few feet from the candidate with their middle fingers extended in each other's faces.Earlier, at the start of the town hall, two protesters interrupted Bush, began chanting “Black Lives Matter” and were escorted out of the community center gymnasium where the event was taking place.Source: http://www.latimes.com/nation/politics/trailguide/la-na-trailguide-08122015-htmlstory.html

pie-kun 1,765
I don't really see the point of interrupting the town hall. It's one thing if he had refused to answer any questions on the subject, but according to the story he had just finished giving an answer on the subject so why yell and shout and cause a big scene? It's really not good for the movement to be interrupting town halls and other places where the population has the chance to directly ask candidates questions. Not only does it come across as disrespectful, not to the candidates but to the other voters who came to ask questions about issues that they are passionate about, but it's unproductive. theMonster5 74
These people want me not to support them by being rude and over aggressive. The cops would say, "See. I told you so. These are the kinds of people they have to deal with everyday."
Redstreak 6,653
Those poor Bush supporters feeling like the BLM matters is trying to fight to make white lives unimportant the victim complex from the right is astounding. Take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust~
Bad Bromance 5,809
I guess you guys never heard of Native Americans. Discrimination against them is the highest in the USA. Nope! They are the group who have gotten the shorter end of the stick in this country. None of us are true Americans as they are the original American people. The English took their land and banished them to the wilderness. This topic, however, is about Bush and the #BlackLivesMatter movement. In no way was my comment meant to negate the fact that Native Americans aren't mistreated in this country. I don't care what you think about unless it is about me. I don't want to come off as rude but you've never been to the US. I've encountered ONE Native American my entire life and she was mixed with white. However I encounter black people every day. Native Americans make up 2% of the US population and many live in reservations or communities that are largely Native American. Blacks make up 13-14% of the population are are widely spread all over the country. So clearly black issues are going to be more talked about since they are everywhere. So because they are less people shouldn't care about them? American Indian women are 10 times as likely to be murdered than other Americans. They are raped or s-xually assaulted at a rate four times the national average, with more than one in three having either been raped or experienced an attempted rape. But let's not care about it. Bette Davis 12,742
I guess you guys never heard of Native Americans. Discrimination against them is the highest in the USA. Native Americans have their share of problems, but in general they are not discriminated against in the same way that black people are. Not to say that they go through less or more, but they have different issues. The #blacklivesmatter movement has to do with police brutality towards African Americans, which is completely irrelevant to the struggles Native Americans go through. Cold as ice cream, but still as sweet.

Then you posted about Natives and it sounded like you were making it a competition. I know you're just passionate about these issues but I just wanted to point out how it looked from my perspective. Awareness is important though and I'm glad you're interested in social issues outside of your country. Not many people care to look into these type of things :)
