ViviLittleM 3
I'm scared by the decay of album sales omg... Praying for Gaga to debut with 100K+ The chart is not a pretty sight this week, as sales for the #1 album hit a record low. Disney’s The Descendants TV-movie ST will debut at #1 with about 30k—although it’s comforting to see Led Zeppelin in the #2-4 slots. That’s 10k less than the previous record holder, Amos Lee, whose 2011 release Mission Bell debuted on top with 40.5k. The SPS chart doesn’t look any better with Taylor Swift and Future battling it out for relative supremacy. Both are on track for about 40k, with Swift having a very slight lead. This will also mark the lowest SPS total to date—by nearly 20k--and quite possibly could be under the previous sales-only low. Here’s how the Top 15 looks at midweek. Due to limited info this week, please expect a greater than usual margin of error. * The Descendants (Walt Disney) 28-33k sales, 30-35k SPS * Led Zeppelin, Presence (Rhino) 22-25k, 23-26k * Led Zeppelin, Coda (Rhino) 22-25k, 23-26k * Led Zeppelin, In Through the Out Door (Rhino) 22-25k, 23-26k * Lil Dicky (CMSN) 21-24k, 23-26k Jill Scott (Blues Babe) 21-24k, 23-26k Future (Epic) 18-21k, 37-42k Taylor Swift (Big Machine/BMLG) 17-20k, 37-42k Tyrese (Voltron) 14-17k, 16-19k * Saint Asonia (RCA) 14-17k, 15-18k * Migos (Quality Control) 12-14k, 14-16k Ed Sheeran (Asylum U.K.) 12-14k, 28-32k Kidz Bop Kids (Razor & Tie) 11-13k, 12-14k Alan Jackson (Capitol Nashville) 11-13k, 12-14k Sam Hunt (MCA Nashville) 10-12k, 24-27k * Debuts

Didymus 33,859
If a soundtrack album is #1 you just know the sales aren't gonna be booming.
gagaisitalian 3,573
There are just no other albums coming out. It's not about "album sales", it's about the quality of music. Taylor, Beyonce, Gaga, and Miley prove that it's possible to still sell 300,000-1,200,000 copies in your first week if you just put out good music and have a proper campaign. gagzus 14,203
It's because we're in the age where piracy is running rapid, soon they won't care about physical or digital sales.Bookmark me it'll be based on streams entirely in the next decade or two. Redstreak 6,653
It may be #1 in pure sales but it won't be #1 in charts. 1989 will pass it with streaming Take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust~

DiscoHeaven23 35,007
There's been a lot of publicity about streaming the last 6 months (good or bad) so now awareness has risen and album sales are f*cked.

Pop music being in a slump this year is one factor, but we should also expect streaming to kill off a lot of itunes albums sales with the marketing of Apple Music to itunes buyers.
