A lot of these examples it looks like they are purposely trying to be goofy or just do a little shimmy or shake. I would need to see a full on routine before I could begin to judge their capabilities. Plus some like Clarkson aren't known for their dancing, nor do they utilize it because they are singers only or primarily (like Mariah).  I think Vh1 just wanted an excuse to pick some big names for click bait.

You could maybe tell some reasons to prove that she is "one of the best vocalists in the past fifty years" instead of using the opinions of "experts"..

Mariah's control and technique are a lot worse than a lot of popgirls even of the today's music including Jessie J.,Beyonce,Gaga or even P!nk etc.

What makes her voice special is the vocal range and her beautiful tone..But these 2 are definitely not enough to call someone "one of the best vocalists of the past fifty years"..

1) In none of these she's lipsyncing, and if you say these didn't vocally impress you, please show me what could. I'm really pretty curious.

 

 

 

And what does live performances has to do with anything anyway? She's been singing for 25 years straight, that doesn't dismish the fact that she's an iconic vocalist, with an outstanding technique and coloratura, and by no means overrated.
