Kabexuela 1,184
because not all of us have to agree or like everything she does currently or in the past, much like you don't agree with her doing her traditional pop with stutter lyrics and want her to do rock , we all have different opinions, perspectives and goals based of of what we do and don't like about her career and sound in the past to influence her future, some of us prefer her older sound, some prefer her latest and some want something new. Like for example I would like a more TF era sound with 2012 looks but someone else will want her to be like 2013 Venus era looks with TFM's industrial pop inspired production. It's subjective and a good thing for us not to "YAS' at everything, but lets be real, when TFM arrived i'm sure many didn't like the sound at the time and wanted more of the sound of TF and the plastic pop meets avant guard looks that were replaced with pale skin and strong colour palettes and high fashion Like she said before "you won't appreciate me now you'll appreciate me in 30 years time" which is accurate, what you may dislike at the time you may love and understand at a later date tbh.One man's trash is another man's treasure and what not.I gagged when TFM was released. The cohesion in this era was spectacular. Way beyond my expectations, thus in my opinion, couldn't have been more perfect than any era in her career so far. The Fame era was undoubtedly unique and polarizing for a debut artist indeed. The transition into TFM was a rude awakening for the other artists, male or female, who were taking a stab into the music scene. It wouldn't surprise me if she creates another era as strong and successful again. She was, and still is a force to be wreckoned with.

Nazscar 4
Am I wrong when I say we used to support and applaud Gaga for doing something different? Remember the transition from paparazzi to bad romance and then to alejandro? Are some of you just going to support and applaud her when she's on top and slaying everyone? Are some of you going to complain and want "another song that slays like poker face or telephone". Why do you constantly reach back into the past instead of dreaming of what could happen? AMEN! Preach it girl!
Bitter 3,640
Why do you constantly reach back into the past instead of dreaming of what could happen? Because every new era is messier than the previous one./thread.
Brooke Hoegan 1,018
Agreed & disagreed She made a series of conflicting statements about pop in the ARTPOP/C2C era. "I will always be a pop artist" "I came in through pop music, but I never really belonged there" "Interscope edited my vocals on every album, they take the vibrato out" "Jazz was the pop music of the past" etc. It seems to me that she took the opportunity for C2C to just focus on singing. She expressed to love to be able to just use her voice. But at the same time, she said very recently that she first and foremost considers herself to be a songwriter. This in itself is not a diss at C2C, but definitely a reference to the idea that C2C was a way to regain critical and financial success, reinvent herself once more and taking a little break from having to crap out artistic ideas in the Interscope machine. All the comments about the negative side of her pre-C2C career had to do with her label, her manager(s), her team, her friends and the general atmosphere of the industry. In early 2014, she proved to be so artistically sincere that she doesn't even release some of her music because she'd hate to see it go "through the machine". I agree that you could easily say that this actually proves she's not authentic, but just remember that apparently her songs were edited and reshaped to death to fit the mould of what Interscope wants Gaga to be like. Under her new management she feels free to have a voice again (literally and figurately). However.. This wouldn't be a classic Didy post without a critical note. Under that new management she proves to be more moneyhungry than ever and in the course of these past three years she has publicly turned her previous claims and promises upside down. She is able to say "I never change my art for anyone" and "I can't decide the way my vocals sound on all of my released work" in one breath and that in itself shows she has been lying her way through her career to keep up the idea that she is an authentic artist who creates the whole spectacle herself (skillfully hiding the fact that she has a whole creative team behind her that actually creates most of the options Gaga just chooses from - very à la Madonna). To summarize: her lies and inauthenticity (only in the sense that her unspoken and fanbase supported "I'm better than my competition" façade fell through with a dramatic bang) did come to the surface during ARTPOP and C2C. From the shockingly offensive (in its basicness and desperation) provocation of DWUW (and I'm not even talking about the cancelled video) to the sudden turn from anti-Hollywood outcast to Malibu celebrity and the general disappointment in the, ironically, art-less ARTPOP album/era (lazy references to artists and world-famous artworks aside), she has definitely stopped being the woman she swore she was. This isn't a problem in itself, but it makes the divide between the fans who scream "where is the Gaga we love(d)" and the fans who come up with all sorts of entertaining excuses to explain away Gaga's fall from grace (not just in a commercial sense) so much wider. It's like the situation before ARTPOP times ten. The true fan camps are showing their faces: (1) the people who want a complete, artistic, innovative and creative vision from Gaga; (2) the people who want Gaga to be on top, usually implying that she needs to scale back her weirdness and appeal to the masses; (3) the people who decide to love whatever decision Gaga makes and think of her as absolutely blameless. The fact that she already seems to have had her peak ànd the fact that we still seem so early on in her career is what turns this fanbase into a landmine. Commercially she declined, artistically she declined (just generally speaking, I love ARTPOP as an album) and the way she presents herself changed dramatically. So basically all camps should be worried and are and all have a completely different take on what's happening, why it's happening and what Gaga (or her fanbase) has to do to turn it around again when her next pop era begins. And those takes clash constantly. That's just the way I see it. oh dear god, I'm literally shaking Since at least 2013 I haven't seen anybody pinpointing THE TRUTH as mercilessly as you, especially explaining how exactly Gaga did change through these 7 years (and I'm officially expelling anybody who doesn't acknowledge that change from sober-minded people after your post) great, MAGNIFICENT post and I wasn't planning to enter that thread ever again, after I read some of the users implying it's one's very personal fault that one dares to dislike anything Gaga does and that anybody who does that should be ashamed because no one is allowed to do so as a true fan thank god I somehow reenter it tho thanks to you I still have a hope that a few independently thinking fans are still here, and not only a bunch of YAAASing sheep left
CDAR 25
Well not every fan in a fanbase would agree on their fandom, so yeah.
monketsharona 80,312
Because every new era is messier than the previous one. /thread. agree with with but can we really stop having faith in Gaga just because her former manager screwed her promo from the end of BTW to the middle of ARTPOP ? I mean I really feel like next era will be a new beginning for Lady Gaga. New Team, New manager. New music. A lot of mysteries. Everything seems to be in her hands to have a great era ! Let's be positive about future this time
giskardsb 12,565
a lot of it is the normal thing artists go through as they put out more material. Fans will naturally prefer certain era's over others. And Gaga herself amplifies that effect because she changes during every era more than other pop artists. Most pop artists bleed a successful sound until it's dead, but Gaga moves quickly to new things. Thus she not only alienates some previousl fans but gains fans who prefer her new sounds above others. and many fans are not tolerant of change. Thanks for that And agreed with everything you said, especially about being called a fake fan when you simply notice some obvious changes and comment on it in a non-praising style Didn't expect that post to get so many likes tbh. I didn't get one single "You're such a hater, why are you still here" reply, I consider that more reason to hold on to hope, Brooke Maybe change is cummin. liz89 373
I love our fanbase of course there are monsters, who are just here for the bling, but most of us support her. The support during the C2C era has been amazing and I see lots of monsters who are here for RockGa etc. So I don't know what you're talking about. (and btw, I don't think that constructive criticism is bad...we don't need to like everything Gaga's doing)
