This fanbase is one of the most devoted... Nothing bad happened to it... It's still full of people who LOVE Gaga and probably never let her down even if they are not crazy about everything she does. Whatever she does I think all of her fans respect her and her choices !

It's quite rare. She can be proud of having Monsters ! And she's definitely !

It is true that many people in this fanbase care so much about sales, and that they think she needs to go back to The Fame/Monster era and be popular again. But its not everyone. Many of us care about what she's doing now, and we expect her to bring more music that will totally be in another level. Expect her... She's doing great: Massive voice, massive talent, massive artist

Agreed & disagreed :hor:

She made a series of conflicting statements about pop in the ARTPOP/C2C era.

"I will always be a pop artist"

"I came in through pop music, but I never really belonged there"

"Interscope edited my vocals on every album, they take the vibrato out"

"Jazz was the pop music of the past"

etc.

It seems to me that she took the opportunity for C2C to just focus on singing. She expressed to love to be able to just use her voice. But at the same time, she said very recently that she first and foremost considers herself to be a songwriter. This in itself is not a diss at C2C, but definitely a reference to the idea that C2C was a way to regain critical and financial success, reinvent herself once more and taking a little break from having to crap out artistic ideas in the Interscope machine.

All the comments about the negative side of her pre-C2C career had to do with her label, her manager(s), her team, her friends and the general atmosphere of the industry. In early 2014, she proved to be so artistically sincere that she doesn't even release some of her music because she'd hate to see it go "through the machine". I agree that you could easily say that this actually proves she's not authentic, but just remember that apparently her songs were edited and reshaped to death to fit the mould of what Interscope wants Gaga to be like. Under her new management she feels free to have a voice again (literally and figurately).

However.. :usrs: This wouldn't be a classic Didy post without a critical note. Under that new management she proves to be more moneyhungry than ever and in the course of these past three years she has publicly turned her previous claims and promises upside down. She is able to say "I never change my art for anyone" and "I can't decide the way my vocals sound on all of my released work" in one breath and that in itself shows she has been lying her way through her career to keep up the idea that she is an authentic artist who creates the whole spectacle herself (skillfully hiding the fact that she has a whole creative team behind her that actually creates most of the options Gaga just chooses from - very à la Madonna).

To summarize: her lies and inauthenticity (only in the sense that her unspoken and fanbase supported "I'm better than my competition" façade fell through with a dramatic bang) did come to the surface during ARTPOP and C2C. From the shockingly offensive (in its basicness and desperation) provocation of DWUW (and I'm not even talking about the cancelled video) to the sudden turn from anti-Hollywood outcast to Malibu celebrity and the general disappointment in the, ironically, art-less ARTPOP album/era (lazy references to artists and world-famous artworks aside), she has definitely stopped being the woman she swore she was. This isn't a problem in itself, but it makes the divide between the fans who scream "where is the Gaga we love(d)" and the fans who come up with all sorts of entertaining excuses to explain away Gaga's fall from grace (not just in a commercial sense) so much wider. It's like the situation before ARTPOP times ten. The true fan camps are showing their faces: (1) the people who want a complete, artistic, innovative and creative vision from Gaga; (2) the people who want Gaga to be on top, usually implying that she needs to scale back her weirdness and appeal to the masses; (3) the people who decide to love whatever decision Gaga makes and think of her as absolutely blameless.

The fact that she already seems to have had her peak ànd the fact that we still seem so early on in her career is what turns this fanbase into a landmine. Commercially she declined, artistically she declined (just generally speaking, I love ARTPOP as an album) and the way she presents herself changed dramatically. So basically all camps should be worried and are and all have a completely different take on what's happening, why it's happening and what Gaga (or her fanbase) has to do to turn it around again when her next pop era begins. And those takes clash constantly.

That's just the way I see it.

Finally someone sees it as I do.

I am curious, what do you expect Gaga to do for her next era? Continue to decline commercially and artistically? Or perhaps something else?

This post is 100% accurate, although I think the concerned mentality has become less valid over the course of this year, since she's clearly in a healthy place both personally and career-wise now. My only concern with the next album is that she might play it super safe just to capitalize on the "she can really sing" goodwill and comeback momentum she's been building. But regardles I'm sure whatever we get, both album-wise and era-wise, will live up to the Lady Gaga name more than anything we've gotten in almost 5 years now.

Legendary

Am I wrong when I say we used to support and applaud Gaga for doing something different? Remember the transition from paparazzi to bad romance and then to alejandro? Are some of you just going to support and applaud her when she's on top and slaying everyone? Are some of you going to complain and want "another song that slays like poker face or telephone". Why do you constantly reach back into the past instead of dreaming of what could happen?

This hot tea.

Finally someone sees it as I do.

I have no ****ing idea :rip: My expectations were higher like a year ago. After the artRAVE she was all "I'm gonna write songs in nature" and "I wanna write power ballads" etc. so I was really convinced that she was finally, with the new management etc., gonna merge vocal prowess with her artistic sensibility but now I'm not so sure anymore. Probably being paranoid, but seeing something like Imagine @ the Games made me really nervous :flop:

But no real expectations. I don't think her album will magically sell more than ARTPOP or something. I'm just hoping Gaga and her team won't see a commercial triumph as the goal. But I doubt that's gonna happen. If she's willing to invest in a pet food line and has enough money to spend on a 20+ million Malibu mansion, I guess she can do whatever she wants :Chica:

You are basically just saying that we are not entitled to our opinnion. Me liking TF is my personal prefrence and you liking something else is yours. We are paying literally money to make her the music we want so obviously everyones gonna have a different take on how it should sound. And why cant we want the bling and the music... i want her music to sound badass and top charts but also be good music so idk what ur talking bout...

Gaga Medicine

they didn't escalate into messes because we complain, they escalated into messes because some fans can't bare to think some people who're just fans and don't idolise her and have opinions different from their own exist in her fanbase. If anything this fanbase has became too sensitive after she doesn't have chart success behind her anymore.

but, Gaga is their Savior and Mommy, so let's hail YAS the Queen !!!

some people are too young and delusional to understand it, you know ? it would make them feel less of a fan, so they choose to behave brainless and they take everything all the way in

This.

I don't care if it's different or not. I just care if I like it or not. :rip:
