Only because she's selling pretty well.  Other than that Taylor's music or image isn't that life changing.

Why does everytime pop girls make it big in the industry the media wants to call them "the next Madonna"? I'm not a Madonna fan but even I can recognize that in order to be the "next Madonna" you have to born again... as Madonna herself.

Madonna is also known for being gimmicky, relying on the shock factor and selling s-x.

While Taylor is known for writing her own music since she was a child, being an inspiration to her young fans and being classy.

I agree. Two completely different artists, during different times.

Taylor's goals and how she is planning to get there probably couldn't be any further from what Madonna's were decades ago.

I disagree with this article and this opinion. Taylor Swift is very successful in terms of numbers or rather, dollar signs; however, what has she contributed in terms of artistry or rather, what pop culture significance has she brought? I'm sincerely asking. Her music is not what I like - I can enjoy songs from 1989 and Red, but not freely - only in social settings.

We don't need another Madonna. However, if someone iconic creates a world that resonates, that is entirely up to the times - and that story will happen on its own.

She already had her flop era. Speak Now in 2010. A flop era consisting of a Grammy Award winning album that sold 5M copies WW, is certified 4 time platinum, where almost every song charted on the BB100 and are at least 2 times platinum. Oh and a sold out world tour.

If she has another flop era like that, I'm here for it

:later:

When you look at Taylor's consistency, it really is amazing. For the above numbers to be her "worst era", shows how she has stayed at the top for a decade now. That's quite an accomplishment!

Style icon?? LMAO she is the epitome of basic, like you can find her style basically at every mall :saladga:

Yes she has the chart positions and the numbers but she does not have half the impact that madonna made. Period.
