Son of Venus 473 Posted July 5, 2015 Share Posted July 5, 2015 I live in Greece and even though Greeks are not innocent i feel bad for my generation and the next ones because we will pay for all the past mistakes of my people and our corrupted goverments.Yeah most of us let pride get in our way cause it's all we've got now. We've had countless cuts,more taxes etc. and most of the families can't take it anymore. I feel happy that for once our goverments let the whole nation decide for such an important issue even though the final decision might have a destructive outcome. We are not more guilty than anyone else in Europe though. Corruption is everywhere in Europe and the crisis is a crisis in all Europe. I don't see how they're two opposites fear is always permitted because it creates some kind of long-term look on the future. Greece today voted for the sake of voting 'no', it felt symbolic for the Greeks. They barely even knew what kind of cuts the trojka had proposed. This is a sad day for democracy, because populism and nationalism have won. "The greatest threat to democracy is an uneducated citizenry." The people isn't guilty, but the government is. Well, both are. A lot of people were stupid enough to vote for their own interests only instead of the whole country's (they still do). Politicians only served their own interests (staying in the govt, getting money). Money isn't free in the Eurozone and has to come from somewhere. Of course they are. Whose interests do you think these governments support? The whole Europepean powers support the same intersts, and sadly these interests are not the same with the interests of the people (eventhough the people are the ones who pay everything in the end). This government only serves its' own party's interests. It's all party politics, no people politics. They don't care about the people, they just want to be able to say 'we told you so!'. What I don't get is what do you actually think will happen now. Do you think it's the end of austerity? Do you think Greece will get a full debt reduction now? Do you think Greece will magically get money from somewhere? And that the banks will magically get money from somewhere? How is Greece supposed to stay in the Eurozone? I know you're against the EU, but I still don't know what you propose instead of the EU. What kind of EU would you want to see? Why do you think Germany has too much power? Is not the Germany the one which gave over 60 billion euros of help to Greece to you can function normaly? My country is in the EU but not in the eurozone and newspapers in my country all write aout arrogant greeks who wont accept the reality.
